Something that seems to work on easy single-player modes likely won’t translate perfectly to competitive online modes.FIFA 22is not an exception to this rule and if players don’t receive any warning, they’ll be making huge mistakes without ever knowing it.

10Hyper Focusing On OVR
There is always going to be excitement over playing with one ofthe highest-rated players inFIFA 22. Sports fans and gamers alike can unite in being giddy about somebody that has statistics that puts them in a league above the others.
While OVR might tell a general story, it’s actually what composes OVRs that make the big difference. A high OVR defender might have a bad tackle rating or a low OVR center might have otherworldly passing abilities. Ultimately, these make a bigger difference throughout the game.
9Dribbling Over Passing
It can be tempting to use one ofthose nationality bonusesto speed to blow past a defender with some dribbling moves. Sometimes, that’s the right thing to do, especially if defenders have slacked off on their tight defense and there is a window to drive.
However, more often, a pass is much better than dribbling up. Dribbling takes stamina, even if it’s done slowly, and that stamina will be depleted by the end of the game with moves like this. A pass is a great way to retain stamina and advance the ball.
8Shooting Over Dribbling
Not to knock dribbling entirely, sometimes players will take the first look they have at the net and shoot the ball. Agreat career mode teammight be able to compensate for some of these shots, but putting too much of the burden on them isn’t wise.
Instead of taking the first shot, dribble a little to find a better hole. The keeper’s odds of a block go down as the striker gets closer with strong control. It feels good to hit a long-range bomb, but those slam dunks from point-blank count just as much on the scoreboard.
7Dive Tackling
Aggressive tackling is not in a good place right now. It works about 90% of the time, which sounds great, but the 10% of the time that it doesn’t work, the player will get a yellow or red card, turn over the ball, and possibly give up a free kick or penalty shot.

The smarter move is to save the dive tackling to intercepting passes. It’s still possible to wrestle a ball away from a dribbler, just do it with superior positioning and a high passive tackle rating. Perhaps someday aggressive tackling will be a smart move, but not for now.
6Trying To Compete Online Too Early
Logging in to Ultimate Team or an online match right after booting upFIFA 22sounds like fun on paper, but it isn’t in practice. These gamers on these modes have put in a lot of work and the majority of them feast on newbies.
Instead of trying to play with the big dogs right off the bat, try taking it easy and learn the game with some single-player drills. For Ultimate Team, play through the challenges that are designed to improve the player’s team before having to compete with the whales.
5Blowing The Lead
Risky play is sometimes necessary. For players who find themselves down in a match, go on the offensive and try to force some turnovers. Losing by one hundred or losing by one is generally not different, so go for broke in a game not trending well.
However, too many players tend to press the advantage when they are winning. Beware this tactic, though, as it opens players up to give up easy points and allow opponents to get back into the game. Playing conservatively with a lead works as well in the video game as it does in the real game.
4Going Offsides
For those who don’t understand the fundamentals of football/soccer, offsides can be a tough thing to grasp. It seems like the player is being punished for doing well which is not inaccurate; there are heating feelings about how offsides rules work.
Unfortunately, not liking the rules doesn’t make them go away. Make sure to call for a pass before blowing by a defender, otherwise every exciting play is going to be waved off by the officials.
3Driving A Corner Kick
Having a big leg is fun to show off. The talent to score from midfield and blast a ball past a keeper from outside of the box is flashy and can rack up big points from range. When these kickers are sent to knock a corner inbound, it’s tempting to perform another legendary blast.

But the corner kick is a different kind of beast and it’s better to keep it high and light to keep it out of the defense’s reach. This makes the ball closer to 50-50 and when targeted away from the keeper, it gives tall players a chance to head it in.
2Pursuing Big Names
There is a real gold rush on international superstars. Clubs will cut huge deals for the kind of talent that wins tournaments and championships. It’s a high-risk, high-reward move. Sadly, these gambles tend to be more of the losing variety than the winning kind.
In Ultimate Team, better cards are released as the year goes on, so big name cards will be small potatoes every month or so. In single-player modes, these big names break the bank and make for a team that underwhelms in every area except for the star’s position.
1Spending Real Money
Outside of buying the game itself, don’t spend money on the game unless there’s a legitimate tournament situation and a chance to win it back. As previously established, cards become outdated. To buy the highest-end cards, players will have to spend thousands of dollars every month in addition to playing consistently.
The thing is, by not spending money, the team will be worse but the brackets will be against other gamers that have also elected not to break the bank. There will, of course, be the occasional smurf, but it’s a rarity and not the norm.
