With the amount of information coming in due to the beta’s release in China, players are understandably excited aboutPersona 5: The Phantom X. Although it is made to be a spinoff of the critically acclaimedPersona 5,The Phantom Xwill feature a whole new cast of characters.

Persona 5: The Phantom X’s cast will also be using weapons that are unique to the series. Each of the weapons showcasesthe unique design of their associated party member, even if the characters themselves have not been fully revealed yet.
10Meteor Hammer (Closer)
Meteor hammer is wielded by Closer, known by her full name of Motoha Arai. The ancient Chinese weapon consists of a flexible chain with a weight attached to one or both ends. Meteor hammer resembles a bola closely both in application and shape.
With the character prioritizing close-quarters combat through speed and agility, her fighting style issimilar to Makoto Nijima, aka Queen. The student council president herself utilizes tekko, weaponized stirrups or horseshoes, to mow down her foes.
9Crossbow (Closer)
Closer also utilizes a crossbow as her ranged weapon inside Palaces. Although there is a bow user in the previous installments of the franchise, specificallyPersona 3’s Yukari Takeba, Closer utilizes a much more rapid crossbow capable of hitting individual enemies at a rapid pace.
Interestingly, this ties to Closer’s agile combat style, which can be seen in the beta version of the game. The crossbow can also be potentially customized further to include other enhancements, akin to the basePersona 5game.
8Tonfa (Cattle)
The cute animal companion forPersona 5: The Phantom X, Cattle, uses a tonfa for his melee attack against theShadows in the Palace. Although the weapon looks harmless at first glance, Cattle can inflict serious damage with the tonfa, showcasing his strength as one of the useful party members in the game.

Cattle’s tonfa is a major departure from previous sharp weapons held by each animal’s companions from the previous games. Teddie fromPersona 4wields claws, whileMorgana fromPersona 5wields a curved sword.
7Blowgun (Cattle)
Unlikehis predecessor animal companionin the basePersona 5game, Morgana, Cattle uses a blowgun as a ranged option to defeat Shadows. Morgana’s rather cute ranged weapon, a slingshot, is replaced by Cattle’s traditional blowgun which could be enhanced further by having poison darts as ammunition.
With that possibility, it is not entirely impossible for the blowgun to have a high chance of inflicting ailments. However, due to the early beta phases of the game, it is still too early to tell whether the blowgun will have this option or not.
6Rapier (Seiji)
Seiji Shiratori’s choice of weapon is the rapier, emphasizing his elegant way of fighting against the Shadows. Similar toYusuke’s fighting style with a katana, Seiji seems to prioritize elegance and swift strikes with the rapier, unlike other sword users in the series.
It can also be argued thatMitsuru Kirijo’s rapier is similarto the one that Seiji wields during the game. However, one noticeable difference is that Mitsuru uses a fencing rapier during the Dark Hour, while Seiji seems to use a real rapier with an elaborate design on the hilt.
5Flintlock (Seiji)
Seiji’s ranged option is a flintlock, which is a brand-new weapon introduced by the series as a default tool for a party member. AlthoughNaoto can obtain it as another weaponinPersona 4 Golden, Seiji arguably uses the flintlock as a main weapon instead of just an upgrade.

The flintlock is an explosive and reliable damage dealer, and the antique gun’s design also suits Seiji as an elegant Persona user.
4Flail (Yuki)
Yukimi Fujikawa, aka Yuki, is the first Persona user to use a flail in battles against Shadows. Her agility enables her to attack enemies in a brutal but graceful manner. Her fighting style is rather similar to Ann Takamaki’s inPersona 5, althoughAnn’s choice of weaponis a whip.
Yuki also uses a two-handed flail instead of a one-handed version. Although it could put her at a disadvantage from a defensive point of view, a two-handed flail will enable her to inflict as much damage as possible against Shadows.
3Twin Pistols (Yuki)
Unlike Zenkichi Hasegawa’s dual revolver inPersona 5 Strikers, which can be cumbersome to use, Yuki uses twin pistols that enable her to inflict serious damage on Shadows. The twin pistols enable the rapid-fire option for both her guns as well.
The amount of ammunition Yuki can shoot in battle gives her a bit of an edge over other Persona users. However, accuracy might pose a problem for Yuki, similar to howYusuke’s rapid assault rifleusually results in lower accuracy during battles inPersona 5.
2Saber (Mont)
Kotone Montagne, known by the codename Mont, has a saber as her choice of weapon inPersona 5: The Phantom X. Although the saber looks similar to Seiji’s rapier at a glance, the hilt on their weapons suggests otherwise.
UnlikeGoro Akechi’s flashy lightsaber, Mont seemed to favor the good old steel saber to decimate her enemies, while also using kicks during melee attacks against the Shadows. Her fighting style, which is similar to a dance, is a possible allusion to her Persona, Terpsichore, who is a Greek Goddess of dance and the Greek chorus.
1Bolt Action Rifle (Mont)
Mont’s option for a ranged attack becomes the highlight of her weapons as she opts to use a bolt-action rifle. It is expected that her bolt action rifle could only carry limited ammunition. However, in return, both the accuracy and the damage inflicted should be severe enough to destroy a low-level Shadow during the game.
It is expected that players would be able to either enhance the weapon’s amount of ammunition or damage to be more optimal. However, some might also prioritize accuracy upgrades to turn the weapon into a source of reliable damage.
Persona 5: The Phantom Xis currently in development for Mobile devices.
