2020 was an incredible year for games, which is very serendipitous considering most people were stuck in their homes for the most part of the year. 2021 is shaping up to be an awesome year for video gamesas well. However, some of the most highly anticipated video games that were initially believed to come out in 2021 don’t have any official release dates yet. A lot of them are also rumored to be delayed to 2022. These are the games that won’t likely see the light of day until the year 2022.
9Cyberpunk 2077 (For Current Gen Consoles)
Cyberpunk 2077took the world by storm when it came out. Although it showed a lot of potentials, it was hindered by its innumerablebugs and glitches. This unfortunate happenstance set the studio back so much that they’re now dealing with class-action lawsuits.
One of the promises of the developers was to releaseCyberpunk 2077for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X in late 2021. However, considering everything the studio is going through, this current-gen console patch won’t likely happen until 2022.
The House of the Deadis a video game that charmed and endeared players all the world over when itcame out in the late 90s. It revitalized and repopularized the zombie genre and it was highly loved for its quirky voice acting and fun gunplay.
In April 2021, an official remake of the game was announced to be released for the Nintendo Switch. The remake would apparently feature updated graphics, controls, and even given new characters and multiple endings. There is no official release date for this remake yet, but it’s most likely that it will come out sometime in 2022.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Timeis widely considered by many as one of the greatest video games to ever grace the world of gaming. The game was so popular that it even spawned a movie adaptation.

Considering how beloved this game is, it is no wonder a remake of the game was greenlit. This was officially confirmed at Ubisoft Forward 2020. However, there is no official release date for the remake yet.
6Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach
Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breachwill be the franchise’s 10th title in its main series, which is astounding considering the first game only came out in 2014, and that’s discounting the spin-offs.Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breachwas teased during the series' fifth anniversary and officially announced in September 2020.
The game will first be released on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, and then to other platforms three months later. There is no official release date for the game yet, but it is rumored that the title will be delayed to 2022.
5Skull & Bones
Skull & Boneswas directly inspired by the naval battles ofAssassin’s Creed IV.It was revealed in 2017, but has been in development and plagued with delays since then. The game was originally supposed to be released in 2018, then it got delayed to 2019, then to 2020, and then it was delayed again.
As of the moment, the game reportedly won’t be released until at least 2022, and perhaps even 2023. The game has caught the attention of numerous gamers, especially those who loved the naval battles ofBlack Flag.Unfortunately, players will have to wait until 2022 or 2023 to finally see the game, if it won’t be delayed again.
4Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6hasofficially been revealed by EA CEOhas to be released on “Holiday 2021” for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. However, given that no official footage, teasers, and trailers have been released for the game yet, save for a few leaks, there is a very high chance that this game won’t make it to the stores until 2022.

EA is very optimistic, however, that the game would be larger than anything the franchise has ever done.Battlefieldfans surely wouldn’t mind waiting a year or so if it means the game would be as incredible as EA is making it out to be.

Horizon Forbidden Westis slated to be released on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The sequel of the positively receivedHorizon Zero Dawnwas officially announced during Sony’s PlayStation 5 reveal event. During the event, it was revealed that the game would be released sometime in 2021.
However, according to recent rumors, players should expect the game to stay in development until early 2022.Horizon Forbidden West’s State of Play showcasedid not specify a date, although 2021 still seems to be the plan. However, things will remain up in the air until an official date is announced.
2God Of War Sequel
2018’sGod of Waris widely believed by many to be one of the best video games to ever come out on a PlayStation console. The commercial success of the game and its open-ended ending paves an obvious way for a sequel. In late 2020, the sequel was officially announced.
The game will supposedly come out in late 2021. However, with the lack of gameplay footage and official trailers, it wouldn’t be surprising at all if the sequel will be delayed to 2022.

Elden Ringis an upcoming RPG title and is a collaborative effort between Hidetaka Miyazaki, the man behind the Soulsborne games, and George R.R. Martin, the author ofA Song of Ice and Firenovels. The announcement of the union of these two giants in the fantasy genre, on top of being a game from FromSoftware, has made this game one of the most highly anticipated games of all time.

It’s only understandable that they want to take their time in order to make the game the best that it can be.
