Weapons from other games inDestiny 2could be a huge market for the sci-fi shooter, and yet this market has been relatively untapped thus far. There have been plenty of different collaborations andcrossovers inDestiny 2lately, although essentially all the crossovers have been for cosmetic items only.Destiny 2should take crossovers to the next level by seeing how weaponry from other games could add to the game’s renowned catalog of Exotic weaponry.
Destiny 2already has weapons inspired by a separate gaming franchise, but these are only the tip of the iceberg.Destiny 2introduced a handful of weapons for Bungie’s 30th anniversary inspired by a franchise that Bungie worked on beforeDestiny’s time, namely the earlyHalogames.Destiny 2should keep this trend going by providing Bungie’s stylized twist on weapons from other highly-praised shooters. Specifically, the protagonist’s weapon from Remedy Entertainment’s award-winningControlgame could prove to be more than worthy of being an Exotic weapon inDestiny 2.

Control’s Service Pistol as a Hybrid Weapon in Destiny 2
The Service Weapon inControlis the only firearm available to players in the game and for very good reason. This weapon has many different reconfigurations and the game allows players to have two configurations equipped at all times, with both unique and universal mods applicable to each configuration. In total, there’s a sidearm configuration, a shotgun, a sticky-grenade launcher, a railgun, a missile launcher, and a machine gun, though each configuration has a unique name. With so much potential for powerful combinations,Control’s weapon arsenal is far from restricted despite only technically having one firearm. The different configurations for the Service Weapon inControlwould fit perfectly intoDestiny 2’s mod systems, as well as the relatively new hybrid Exotic weapons.
When it comes toDestiny 2’s hybrid Exotic weapons, the Devil’s Ruin is already relatively close to howControl’s Service Weapon might perform inDestiny 2’s environment. The base weapon type for Devil’s Ruin is a sidearm, like the Service Weapon’s standard Grip configuration, while the Devil’s Ruin can additionally fire a fusion rifle beam of energy. The secondary fusion rifle firing configuration for the Devil’s Ruin is where the weapon varies from the Service Weapon, asControldoesn’t quite have any projectiles that behave like continuously fired beams of energy. Given how powerful sidearms are inDestiny 2, the base Grip configuration for the Service Weapon alone would be plenty powerful.
Another set of Exotic hybrid weapons thatControl’s Service Weapon shares a lot in common with are the Silverlight Storm and theRevision Zero inDestiny 2. Each of these 2 Exotic weapons shares a firing configuration that strongly compares to Service Weapon configurations. The Silverlight Storm’s standard auto rifle firing configuration is very similar to the Spin configuration, while Revision Zero’s alternate sniper rifle configuration is fairly close to the Pierce configuration for the Service Weapon.
Additionally, the Service Weapon’s other configurations still relate to existing weapons inDestiny 2, except none are hybrid weapons. The Shatter configuration is akin to the Legend of Acrius, the Charge configuration is essentially a three-round burst Jotunn, and the Surge configuration is a lot like the Prospector. The one unique trait of the Service Weapon thatDestiny 2doesn’t quite have though is the constant ammo regeneration. Ultimately, sinceDestiny 2already has a majority of analogs to the Service Weapon’s unique configurations, throwing them together into a single weapon is one of the few things preventing this crossover from becoming a reality. Especially sinceDestiny 2’s transition to making kinetic ammo infinite,Control’s Service Weapon has the potential of being one ofthe best Exotics inDestiny 2.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
