With PC gamers and enthusiasts struggling to get hold of newAMDor Nvidia graphics cards, many are finding that they are having to pay way above the MSRP in order to secure one or risk going without. WithGPU prices still ludicrously high, and no indication that costs could come down significantly any time soon, consumers are in a quandary. Given the range that’s currently on the market, products are pricey without the hikes given that a lot of cards are mid-to-high range. However, “team red” may be about to unleash some budget GPUs for the more casual gamer.
According to a report, there is the possibility thatAMDmay be getting ready to release a couple of RX graphics cards which will be lower spec, but also means they will be much cheaper. In particular, the report cites a tweet from a leaker who suggests that an RX 6400 and RX 6500 XT could be on the horizon, both of which will allegedly have 4 GB of RAM over a 64-bit bus.

Currently, there area number of budget AMD and Nvidia GPUs available, but it’s been a good while since a new low-end, and above all cheaper, card has been released. Going up against some of the beefier products that are already out, or are due out next year, the supposed 6400 and 6500 XT will not target those who are looking for top of the range systems for the latest games. At 4 GB of RAM, it’s unlikely to be suitable for the more “hardcore” PC gamer, but will have its place on the more “casual” end of the market.
Of course, it’s worth saying at this stage that the report and tweet have not been confirmed by AMD yet, but given that the likes of theNvidia GTX 1650was released a couple of years ago, it seems as though the tech world could do with some new entry level graphics cards. For those who just want a budget GPU and are not really looking to put together a monster of a gaming machine, the rumored AMD cards will likely be welcome with open arms.
Nvidia does have its own range of low-to-mid range hardware that doesn’t break the bank, with theRTX 3060 releasing earlier this year. Whether this will force “team green” to compete withAMDby offering up some budget GPUs of its own remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t be too surprising if Nvidia announced something soon.
