Nintendo’sAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsis a smash hit, with the company’s fiscal year earnings report confirming that it is thefastest-selling Nintendo Switch titleever with 11.77 million copies sold in its first 11 days. With that huge a fanbase comes plenty of individuals with a wide range of interests outside the game who want to use the creative space to represent that, such as a Redditor named c0ughcool who turned part of their house into Rick’s Garage fromRick and Morty.

They posted an image of their creation, featuring a player character dressed as Morty nervously standing next to one of the crass adult-themed show’s hallmark green portals, to the r/gaming subreddit earlier today and it has already garnered over 59,000 upvotes as of this writing. The post is well-timed consideringRick and Mortyjust returned to Adult Swimfor the second half of Season 4 on May 3.

Though the primarily cynical, cosmic-horror obsessed cartoon might not seem like the most apt crossover for a casual, relaxing, and kid-friendly game likeAnimal Crossing, this recreated garage that houses Rick Sanchez’s crazy experiments isn’t the only presenceRick and Mortyhas had in the game.Adult Swim posted designs based on its showsto the Internet last month, and many of those were based on Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s brainchild.

Creativity is the name of the game inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, as players have done everything from reimagine scenes from their favorite shows and movies to design other video game-themed islands within its confines. Some fans have even gone so far as to create online tools and apps that do everything from making design trading easier to planning out terraforming in a 3D space.

The game’s massive popularity in its relatively short time on the market has also encouraged Nintendo to pour a lot into its longevity. In that fiscal earnings report the company announced it will beadding “continuous updates” toAnimal Crossingthrough 2020and beyond.

Luckily for fans ofAnimal Crossingand all of the wacky things people have been building within it, continuous updates means there should continue to be new ways to innovate and add more content. That also means there should be plenty of inspired ideas to see for a long time to come, be they indoors like c0ughcool’sRick and Mortygarage or outdoors like arecreation of Disney’s Magic Kingdom.
