Expeditions are an important part of gameplay inAnno 1800.In addition to opening upnew regions of the map, players can also use them to rescue valuable characters or to retrieve rare animals, ornaments, and botanical specimens for display in zoos, museums, and gardens. Before and during each Expedition, the assigned ship will have a Morale level, which needs to be kept above 0. Failing to do this will result in the termination and failure of the mission. Worse still, it can lead to the loss of the entire ship and its crew in some circumstances. To increase Morale, players can equip Expedition ships with Rations and Items.
Each Item or Ration will affect a different category of skills, and each mission will have its own skill requirements to be met. Skills are divided into the following categories:
While not every skill needs to be met for every Expedition, there are certain thresholds which players will need to cross. This can be done by equipping Items and Rations that match the specific mission requirements. Items can be obtained through Trading, Expeditions, Combat, or simply throughincreases in populationand city attractiveness. While some Items may require DLC content to unlock, the vast majority of the best Expedition items will be available to players in the base game.
6Rocket Barrage
Useful In Both Combat & Expeditions
The Rocket Barrage is an Epic tier Item that can primarily be used to strengthen a ship’s overall combat effectiveness. In addition to its999% Damage Modifierwhen targeting buildings, the item also grants+25 Force, +10 Hunting, and +45 Naval Poweron Expeditions.
These attributes can be very useful if the mission requires them, and will bulk up and normalexploratory vesselsto put them at the same level as many Military Ships. While the bonuses may not be especially helpful against pirates, they should be more than enough to cover these areas, especially on lower-risk Expeditions.
5Polyglot Scholar Rahim
A Pacifist Item Good For Getting Expeditions Started
Polyglot Scholar Rahim is a unique card players can acquire by completing various quests in the Land of Lions DLC. When equipped, this item will tender a ship pacifist. This willprevent it from being attackedby any enemy ships, while also reducing the ship’s attacking capability in the process. This can be crucial for getting expedition ships to their intended target in one piece, without the need for a military escort.
The item will also add+10 Movement Speed, +50 Diplomacy, and +30 Faith.In addition to all this, Polyglot Scholar Rahim also possesses the Hypnotist trait, which may come in handy during certain Expedition scenarios. For example, when dealing with a local tribe, there may be an option to use the Hypnotize trait to persuade or convince them of something.

A very strong overall ship item, the Legendary Captain Richard Moses will grant ships+25% Movement and +500% Self Repair.This way, even in the event that they are attacked, the ship will be more than likely to escape before receiving catastrophic damage. For expeditions, Georgina Duffy will add+25 Force, + 25 Navigation, and +55 Naval Power. This will provide more thanenough firepowerfor most missions. She also has the added bonus of thePiratetrait for expedition scenarios.
1Lord High Admiral Nadasky, The Estute
A Legendary Admiral With Many Useful Skills
Lord High Admiral Nadasky, whose exploits are mentioned during the Sunken Treasures DLC, is available as a Legendary ship item. He offers some of the best advantages to Expedition vessels. In addition to+20% Movement Speed,this item will also grant+25 Force, +25 Navigation, and +55 Naval Power.
These advantages can be a great starting point for some of the more difficult expeditions in the game. Naval Power and Force can be improved by equipping Advanced Weapons, while many other items will improve Navigation. Overall, this is still a very strong item forExpedition ships.
