“The Old Ways” patch is sure to getApex Legendsfans old and new logging into the game to try it out. What changes could have been made to make the game so much better? Let’s take a look at 10 of the updates within the patch that have improvedApex Legends.

10Bloodhound Trials

“The Old Ways” patch saw the introduction of a new location on the map, Bloodhound Trials. Players who land at the location and fight their way through three difficult rounds of Prowlers will be handsomely rewarded for their efforts. Not only will players have to fight against the Prowlers, but also against other players who are hungry for the loot on offer. The Bloodhound Trials adds some variety and excitement to the game and also some new lore for the legend Bloodhound. Could this PvE element become a full PvE game mode in the future? Fans will have to wait and see.

9Duos Game Mode Made Permanent

When loading up the game, players will notice that the Duos game mode is available to play. The option to play duos has come and gone a few times in the cycle ofApex Legends. However, now it is here to stay.

In thepatch notes,EAhas stated that the permanent introduction of duos will help decrease queue times to get into games, which is great news for players. Who likes to wait to play their favorite game? No one. Now players can get into a game quicker than before.

8Map Rotation

Alongside duos, EA and Respawn have made another attempt at increasing the variety within the game. A map rotation has been introduced in an attempt to keep the game fresh. The map will rotate between the current version of the Worlds Edge map, the King’s Canyon Season Two map, and the King’s Canyon After Dark map. Players shouldn’t worry if the map selection is one they are not fond of, as EA has said in the patch notes that the maps will rotate often.

7Kraber Changes

TheKraber .50 Cal Sniper riflehas had a huge update to its headshot multiplier in the new patch. Before, the Kraber would have a multiplier of 2.05x damage. However, now that has been upped to 3.0x damage. This means that, no matter how much defense the unfortunate target on the wrong side of the sniper rifle has, they will be guaranteed to be downed if they are hit with a headshot. For players lucky enough to find the Kraber, sniping just got a whole lot more fun.

6EVO Armor Changes

Picking up EVO armor in a game could either be really good or really bad for a player. The armor starts on such low protection that it is important to deal as much damage as quickly as possible to evolve it up to provide better protection. Once fully evolved, the armor is amazing. However, getting there can be not so amazing.

In the latest patch, the amount of damage a player wearing EVO armor needs to deal to evolve it has been drastically reduced. This means that players can get to the maximum evolution as soon as possible and can engage in those risky fights they might have otherwise not been able to.

5King’s Canyon Update

AllApex Legendsplayers know the struggle of going into a game on the King’s Canyon and King’s Canyon After Dark maps and having to struggle to find loot. Well, struggle no more. With the new patch, comes an update to King’s Canyon and After Dark adding in more loot items.

No more will players have to spend what feels like forever running around trying to find ammo or shields. Now players can grab what they need and jump straight into the action, hunting down everyone else on the map.

4Revenant Overhaul

Revenant was introduced in season four but didn’t see much playtime, as players of the game didn’t find him useful enough to use over other legends. EA and Respawn heard the player’s cries and decided to give the legend a complete overhaul to his abilities. His tactical ability, silence, now has two charges, doubled status effect, doubled area of effect timer, and has the added bonus of disabling Gibraltar’s Gun Shield.

Death Totem, Revenant’s ultimate ability, now returns legends with 50 health, as opposed to one health. Revenant has also seen the removal of the Low Profile passive ability, meaning he now also takes less damage. This overhaul makes Revenant drastically more viable and extremely effective at rushing other teams, which is what he was intended to do.

3Lifeline Changes

Lifelinehas gained access to a new passive ability in the latest patch ofApex Legends. Hunt down blue bins as Lifeline and players will be rewarded with the ability to find a secret compartment within the bin containing extra loot such as ammunition and down shields. This new update to Lifeline gives her some added viability when it comes to legend selection, and it will be sure to make more players want to pick up the legend in future games.

2Low Profile Change

The Low Profile passive ability applies to four legends withinApex:Wraith, Wattson, Pathfinder, and Lifeline. Due to the small design and hitbox of these legends, Low Profile compensates for this by marginally increasing damage dealt to these four characters. In the new patch, a connecting shot to a limb will now deal the same damage as a shot to the body. This means that these small, tricky to hit legends will fall easier than they did before. That’s great news for players who struggle when they come up against these legends.

1Sniper Ammo Capacity Reduction

There’s no argument that, across all games, sniper rifles are extremely powerful. The ability to down or kill targets from a long-range without them having a chance to fight back is an extremely effective way to play games. EA and Respawn have decided to nerf sniping in the latest patch by reducing the sniper ammo capacity of legends, as well as the amount of ammo looted.

This means that players camping in hard-to-reach spots will not be able to stay there for long, as they will need to uproot and find more ammo. This is great news for close-range players who can stumble upon sniping legends hunting for ammo and swiftly take them out before the sniper can do anything about it. The tables have turned and revenge is sweet!
