The “Gunslinging Broken Messiah”, as the game titles him, will bring new interesting combat mechanics toGuilty Gear Strive. This includes him being able to use his magical handgun, where apart from shooting his opponents, a reticle can be seen that can track them down. There’s also a series of doppelgangers that Happy Chaos can summon, which also plays into his trickster nature. His theme music was also shown in this trailer, starting off with a jazzy and upbeat tune, it then transitions into a heavier, rock-styled song, which also fits his chaotic presence.
The reception to the reveal has been enthusiastic, with many enjoying Happy Chaos finally being playable after his appearance in the story, to other parts of the character like his trollish personality. This includes an Easter egg that if a match with Happy Chaos is timed out, he’ll shoot the timer itself regardless if he ended up losing. Others drew comparisons to Adachi from thePersonafighting game spin-offalso developed by Arc System Works, where both characters are gun-toting antagonists who enjoy their acts of villainy in the games.
