Even though theArmored Core 6release dateis right around the corner, FromSoftware hasn’t revealed a ton about the new game. There have been some trailers setting up the game world and giving fans a glimpse at gameplay, as well as some official previews, but in typical FromSoftware fashion, much of the game is being kept secret until fans get to play it for themselves on launch day. This secrecy extends to theArmored Core 6multiplayer mode, which hasn’t had much in the way of official details.

Now photos taken of the back of theArmored Core 6box have seemingly revealed some of the first details about the upcoming game. Assuming the information on the box is accurate, it seemsArmored Core 6multiplayerwill support up to 6 players with an additional three that can spectate the action. This seems to suggest thatArmored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconwill have 3v3 multiplayer matches, but again, official details have not been provided at the time of this writing. With theArmored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconrelease date about a month out, one has to imagine that official details like that are coming sooner rather than later, but it’s entirely possible that fans will have to wait to play the game for themselves to really get an idea of what to expect from the PvP component.
FromSoftware often includes a PvP component in its games, though many of its games also have some kind of co-op. However,Armored Core 6will not have a co-op mode, so fans should keep that in mind. The multiplayer experience inArmored Core 6will be strictly competitive.
On paper,Armored Core 6seems like it could be a risk for FromSoftware. The studio has produced almost nothing but Soulslike games for a decade, and yetArmored Core 6is not a Soulslike, does not have co-op, and is generally much different from the games that really made the studio famous. However, FromSoftware has proven itself time and time again, and so whileArmored Core 6may be risky, it may also stand tall alongside the studio’s other games. Fans will have to play it for themselves to find out.
