A deleted scene fromThe Batmanhas unveiled thefirst official look at Keoghan’s Joker. In the deleted scene, Pattinson’s Batman makes a trip to Arkham and confronts Keoghan’s Joker about the Riddler case. Batman gives him a file filled with some of Riddler’s recent antics, hoping Joker can give him some insight. Instead, the Joker digs under Batman’s skin, insisting that Batman knows exactly how Riddler thinks. Keoghan also shows off his Joker-style laugh, which makes the hairs on anyone’s arms stand up.
Thephysical appearance of Keoghan’s Jokeris also worth mentioning. InThe Batman, it’s impossible to get a good look at him through the slit of the door of his Arkham cell. In this deleted scene, his hands are blood red – a vibrant contrast to his pale complexion. The hair on the top of his head has tints of green on the end of his strands, though most of his locks are gone. It appears he’s either pulled his hair out or that it’s a result of an accident. His eyes are illuminated by dark circles and his lips are adorned with the vibrant red cuts that create Joker’s signature smile.
InThe Batman,Keoghan’s Joker is briefly met toward the endof the film. He is locked in an Arkham cell adjacent to the Riddler’s and talks to him through the door. In the film, it seemed as if the Joker and Riddler were meeting one another for the first time. With this deleted scene, Joker had previous knowledge of Riddler and the heinous actions behind his crimes. Given their exchange that made the final cut ofThe Batman, it would seem Joker is impressed with what he saw, or at least, the effect Riddler’s actions had on Batman.
When and where Keoghan will be able toshow off his skills as Jokernext remains to be seen. His few moments of screen time inThe Batmanhave already piqued the interest of many who anxiously wait to see what he can do in the iconic role. This deleted scene fromThe Batmanonly adds to Keoghan’s credibility in the role and proves he certainly has what it takes to create a memorable rendition of the character.
