Battlefield 2042is looking to up the player count significantly, jumping from the 64-player matches seen in the latest games in the series to a whopping 128 players. To ensure that allBattlefield 2042lobbies are filled with the maximum number of players, DICE and EA have confirmed that the new game will use bots that they have dubbed “AI Soldiers.” But these bots won’t just be to help fill outBattlefield 2042multiplayer lobbies.
In fact,Battlefield 2042bots will have a number of uses in the game. For instance, someone can choose to playBattlefield 2042’s game modescompletely by themselves if they so desire and fill the entire lobby with bots. It’s also possible forBattlefield 2042players to play “co-op” with their friends, making it so their squad is the only player-controlled squad in a match while the rest of the players are AI Soldiers.

WithBattlefield 2042’s lack of a single-player campaign, this might just be the next best thing. It ensures that those who don’t really care for playing with others in online multiplayer games can still enjoy the newBattlefield 2042game to a certain extent. It’s unclear if the game requires a persistent online connection, but if not, these AI Soldiers should also future-proofBattlefield 2042so that it’s still playable even decades from now.
Battlefield 2042’s bots should be well-received by the community because all they really do is give players more options when it comes to how they want to play the game. However, not everything about the new game has been met with open arms. The aforementioned lack of a single-player campaign has upset some members of theBattlefieldcommunity, whereas others weren’t impressed withBattlefield 2042’s graphicsas seen in its gameplay reveal trailer.
