Whether created by Hyperion or other wealthy and evil manufacturers, the robots ofBorderlandsprovide hilarity and action, showcasing that it’s not just the human population that can have their mental statedeteriorate when placed on Pandorafor too long.
6Zer0
The Ultimate Assassin Who Could Be A Robot Or An Alien
It might not exactly be fair to call Zer0 a robot, since nobody actually knows what isbehind his mask. This strange character could be a robot, or they could be an alien, it’s a secret that will most likely remain as such. Yet, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Zer0 was created as an assassin bot, and that’s mainly in the way they talk in haikus and have such precision with blades and guns.
Zer0 is easily one of the coolest Vault Hunters, and one of the most curious to those around him and themselves. Zer0 is an expert assassin, and nobody wants this potential robot hunting them, especially when they use their faceplate to emote.
5Loader #1340
A Loyal Hyperion Bot Who Betrays Trust On Repeat
One of Hyperion’s disposable EXP Loaders that was abandoned after Hyperion sent an army to the Bloodshot Stronghold, Loader #1340 attempts to ask Vault Hunters for help in providing him with a new body. Loader #1340 remains as just an AI core, and even when the Vault Hunter helps him, he will try to murder them. It’s rather funny to see Loader #1340 break trust, as is his programming until one attempt to many sees him give up.
Loader #1340 impresses with his resilience, as most other Hyperion bots would have been dead by now. Luckily, Loader #1340 can live on, not as a radio that plays awful music, but as a gun or shield that will brag about its skill and bully opponents with flair.
4Gortys
An Incomplete Yet Extremely Optimistic Friend
Gortys is what every person needs in a robot companion. They’re smart, excitable, and extremely peppy, even when they could be killed at any moment. Gortysalways sees the positiveof things, and that’s quite the feat, especially when she doesn’t have all the components to make her whole.
Gortys was designed by Atlas for the sole purpose of locating and opening the Vault of the Traveler. Even with this defined purpose, Gortys does not let it make her who she is, and she uses her charm to stick by others, even if they might not appreciate her company.
3LOU13
The Most Polite And Hilarious Assassin Bot
LOU13 is one of the more frantic and dangerous personalities of the robots ofBorderlands, as he is a debonair assassination robot. LOU113 loves violence and even craves it. There is nothing better to it than being in the company of his friends while getting shot at. Since LOU13 craves danger, it’s no surprise that he’s more than capable of handling it, since he is after all an assassination bot with access to known targets that are wanted throughout the system.
LOU13 uses his eloquent personality and his skills with a weapon to kill those who need killing. It’s always fun to see LOU13, especially when hisprogrammed manners and killing motivesmake him a polite assassin who won’t harm a target until after he learns their name, thus making him a rather dapper and hilarious killing machine with a desire for comedy.
2FL4K
A Robot With Self Awareness Who Craves Death And Beastly Companionship
FL4K was a humble Indexing Unit before they acquired self-awareness, which made them keen for murder and adventure. FL4K is on a journey of self-discovery, and one that comes with a plethora of death. FL4K craves nothing more than the hunt, to pursue targets and force the circle of life upon those unsuspecting or deserving. He’s a fun character, and a great playable character towield in battle.
FL4K may be fun and mysterious, but they cannot deny the adorableness and curiosity of animal life, and FL4K is often seen as a beast tamer, proving that metal and wires can have a kinship with flesh and nature. FL4K and their animal companions hunt life to please death itself.
1Claptrap
The Annoying And Comedically Pathetic Robot
There have been many Claptrap units created by Hyperion, but few of them are as iconic and annoying as CL4-TP. This Claptrap is everything a service bot should not be. He swears he’s violent, perverse, self-serving, and all-in-all, just a pretty bad robot who has been shot on more than one occasion. Claptrap is just asannoying as he is hilarious, and his affinity for Vault Hunters being his minions and his hatred of stairs makes him an icon.
There is a reason Claptrap is seen in everythingBorderlands-related. He’s an icon that deserves credit for his charm, even if some players and visitors of Pandora want to use him as target practice. Luckily for Claptrap, he isn’t programmed to feel pain, although he does feel enthusiasm, cowardice, and loneliness, especially since he is the last Claptrap unit.
