Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, like the other games in the franchise, has a skill tree. There are two skill trees in the game, actually. Cereza can upgrade her character via Onyx Roses, while Cheshire can be upgraded with Avalon Drops. This allows players to not have to choose between who to upgrade over the other.

That doesn’t mean players should not be cautious with their upgrades as it is not easy to get either currency. Upgrading the wrong skill early could be devastating in any of theBayonettagames, let alone this new spinoff. So, as a helpful set oftips inBayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, these are the best ones to unlock first.
Demon Dodge And Dodge Roll
Cereza and Cheshire each have a dodge skill to unlock inBayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. Cereza has one called Dodge Roll which operates like any dodge roll inan action game. Cheshire has one called Demon Dodge, which performs similarly to Cereza’s although it’s more like Cheshire steps out of the way of oncoming attacks.
Cheshire also has a countering skill that can deflect attacks, but this upgrade is one of the few forced ones in the game. As the primary fighter inBayonetta Origins, it’s great that Cheshire has more ways to defend than one.
This Way
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demontechnically doesn’t have a dedicated run button onthe Nintendo controller. Once upgrades unlock in Chapter 3, players can snatch up This Way. This skill will allow Cereza to move quickly if the player extends Cheshire in its Huge Mode.
Once out of Hug Mode, Cereza and Cheshire will move at normal speeds. While exploring the world, This Way is a fine running skill to have. However, it doesn’t help their slow speeds while in battle, but that’s a whole other problem.
Quick Recast 1
Cereza is not the primary fighter in the game, which is strange given that she is the main character andBayonetta in the original trilogyis a total badass. Thankfully, players will have some agency with her as she can begin by casting thorns on enemies. Some enemies can only be destroyed if they are tangled in thorns first.

The further players get inBayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, the more complicated battle combos will become. That’s why Quick Recast 1 is a great early skill to pick up. It reduces the cooldown so that players can cast these thorns more regularly to help Cheshire out in battle.
Infernal Bond 1
Infernal Bond 1 is another good skill that can help Cereza with her magic recovery. When things look a bit intense in the battle arena, go into Hug Mode. If players have Infernal Bond 1, they can recover the magic gauge faster. This will also protect Cheshire as it will no longer have to fight enemies.
In this mode, players will have to try and master Cereza’s dodge abilities via the aforementioned Dodge Roll. It’s never a bad thing to practice dodging inan action game, no matter if players purchase Infernal Bond 1, or not.
Plush Punch
If players decide to recover magic while in Hug Mode via Infernal Bond 1 then they should get these two skills too. First, they need to buy Plush Punch. If players extend Cheshire, this attack will stun enemies, so that Cereza can run away without being chased.
After they buy Plush Punch, That Tickles 1 will unlock. This will get enemies to drop items, like Onyx Roses and Avalon Drops, as players stun these enemies. It’s sort of like the Mug skill in a lot of RPGs likeFinal Fantasy 7except it doesn’t do any real damage.
Thick Skin 1
Thick Skin 1 is an important skill to get for Cheshire as soon as possible because it will increase its health. Players can increase Cereza’s health by collecting petals that will form into a new piece of her health bar once they collect five.

This system is a lot like collectingHeart Containers inThe Legend of Zeldaseries. Getting Thick Skin 1 and further upgrades in this field is the only way to help Cheshire out. It never hurts to have more health in an action game likeBayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon.
Big Pockets 1
The save points in the game will at first only allow players to record their progress. They can eventually go into any of the previousTír na nÓg puzzle rooms inBayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demonthat they unlocked.
Another, more important feature that will unlock at save points is called Concoct. This will allow players to mix materials that they have acquired in the game to make potions. Big Pockets 1 will simply allow players to carry more potions, like one that can restore health.
Multi-Bind 1
Finally, the last most important skill to unclog ASAP inBayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demonis called Multi-Bind 1. This skill will increase her magic gauge overall, so that she can cast her thorns in faster succession. While Quick Recast 1 reduces the cooldown, Multi-Bind 1 essentially presents the opportunity to cast thorns again almost right away.
Bayonetta Originsdoes not have the most robust magic system of all time. It can be confusing, but all players need to understand is that all of these aforementioned skills combined will be helpful inside and outside of combat.
