The release ofWWE 2K22appears to be off to a better start thanWWE 2K20, with players reporting far fewer bugs and glitches than the previous game’s troublesome release. That being said, some glitches are still popping across the game and treating players to some amusing visuals and exchanges during gameplay. One player, in particular, shares their gameplay of a nowformer-WWE superstarseemingly phasing through a steel cage in the middle of a triple threat steel cage match.

WWE 2K22is the latest game in the series from WWE, publisher 2K Games, and developer Visual Concepts after roughly a year and half break. A major selling point of the latest entry is the return of a GM mode, titled MyGM, where players take on the role of an authority figure tasked with overseeing and booking the week-to-week of eitherRaw,SmackDown,NXT, orNXT UK. It also features a massive roster of almost 170 wrestlers, many of whom are no longer with WWE.

It is from this list of former WWE wrestlers the aforementioned superstar TikTok user Jeremy Reel @bitw_legacy found themselves facing with their custom character when the humorous glitch occurred. Reel’s character was down in the middle of the ring whileCesaroand John Morrison, another former WWE star, share a short strike exchange in one of the corners when Cesaro becomes trapped against one of the posts. This results in Cesaro seemingly melting or phasing through both the post and the cage itself while Morrison is trapped, leaving both open for legacy’s character to recover.

While it won’t be surprising to see more glitches like this one appear on social media in the coming days, the silver lining seems to be this may be the extent of any glitches.WWE 2K22has released to fairly positive reviews, with many players happy with the return of a GM mode to the game, visual improvements, and overall gameplay. It is almost the complete antithesis toWWE 2K20’s launch, which was mired with game-breaking bugs and criticized for gameplay design many felt was too complex.

It represents a much-needed win for 2K Games and Visual Concepts amid reports WWE may be looking to partner with a new publisher for future titles. The most recent reports saidElectronic Artsis the most likely suitor, which makes sense given EA’s dominance in the sports game arena with franchises like Madden and FIFA. If EA were to bring WWE under its umbrella, it would only tighten EA’s grip on a space where it only lacks major titles for basketball and baseball fans.

WWE 2K22is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
