Every so often, a new rumor regarding a potentialBloodborneremaster crops up. These typically generate a ton of hype but prove to be paper thin, evidenced by the fact that there is still no newBloodborneremasterto date. The latest rumor may fall into the same trap, but fans have turned to asking for a PS5 upgrade and it seems a new rumor corroborate that possibility.

If it proves true, those fans will be able to playBloodborne: Hunter’s Editionnext year not long afterElden Ringreleases. Yet, for those who are interested in how valid this rumor is, here’s a complete breakdown of it origins, what it entails, and how likely it is to be true.

Bloodborne: Hunter’s Edition Rumor and Leak Origins

A rumor or leak is only as good as its source, with many rumors or leaks dying at this point. The existence of an upcomingBloodborneupgrade, at least this time around, comes from SoulsHunt, who previouslyleakedStranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Originprior to its reveal. For many, this at least means the original source is credible enough, but it’s a been more layered than that. SoulsHunt’s leak of aBloodbornePS5 upgrade is supposedly backed up by a 4chan user named Demonite.

Demonite is the leaker that had originally discussedBloodborneprior to its proper reveal, but there’s no actual proof that this Demonite is THAT Demonite. In other words, because of SoulsHunt’s leak, it’s believable that aBloodbornePS5 upgradeis in the works. However, the details of it (which all come from Demonite) are the big question marks here. Demonite offers no evidence of their identity or their claim, and that’s a big strike against this “leak.” Not to mention, it’s not likely that SoulsHunt’s mention of it was ever meant to be conflated with Demonite’s.

Bloodborne: Hunter’s Edition - Is It Coming to PC and PS5, and When?

According to Demonite,Bloodborne Hunter’s Editionwill launch on the PS5 platform for a limited time. It’ll come to PC about 6 months to a year later, which falls in line with Sony’s tendency to push PS platforms first.

How Likely is the Bloodborne Hunter’s Edition Leak to Be True

SoulsHunt’s assertion that aBloodbornePS5 upgrade/remaster is in the works falls in line with recent trends, the game’s popularity among other PS exclusives, and more. Releasing an upgraded version of the game, especially with an upcharge from Sony, only makes sense. It’s happened most recently withGhost of TsushimaandDeath Stranding, and it’s unlikely to end there. Unfortunately, that doesn’t really validate this Demonite’s assertions.

First, the source is as questionable as it gets which should be a full-stop for many fans. One compensation technique among fake leakers is to throw a lot of details out there to feign authority, but that’s a typical backfire because, in this case, this Demonite would have to be far more intimately familiar with the project than most people who have heard of something similar. It’s also a bit of an aside, but saying it’s happening now afterElden Ring’s announcement had fans craving aBloodbornePC/PS5 portis an unusual coincidence if so. More likely, it was the inspiration for such claims. Finally, Demonite’s post is full of small grammatical errors, something sometimes indicative of a rushed, not so serious claim.

Ultimately, it’s up to fans what to believe, but that belief doesn’t make it true. It would seem that both Sony and FromSoftware would just be leaving money on the table by not offering something forBloodborneon PS5. After all, many other popular games are getting upgrades and new releases, withBloodborneup there withSpider-Man, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, andHorizon Zero Dawnin terms of popularity. ABloodbornePS5 upgrade seems like a matter of time, but that doesn’t meanBloodborne: Hunter’s Editionis it though.

Bloodborneis available now on PS4 and is rumored to be released for PC/PS5.
