Summary

The Titan class inDestiny 2has been a frequent topic of discussion among the game’s community in recent months for all the wrong reasons, but some comments recently made by Benjamin Wommack, Combat Area Lead at Bungie, have given Titan mains hope of their class getting some desperately-needed buffs and tweaks in the year ahead. While mostDestiny 2fans agree that the Titan class has been struggling for a while now, the new content introduced with the game’s Final Shape expansion has made these problems particularly clear to see.

While the verycore identity ofDestiny 2’s Titan classhas arguably been in flux over the years, with the class originally resembling a sort of armored super soldier and later assuming the role of “the melee class” with the release ofDestiny 2, many Titan abilities available in the game just don’t seem to fit well into the gameplay ecosystem that has evolved rapidly over the years. Many fans feel that, ironically, the melee-focused power fantasy falls flat due to Titans lacking many of the survivability options available to other classes, and while the new Prismatic subclass introduced with The Final Shape could have given players the flexibility needed to accommodate this playstyle, the subclass unfortunately didn’t come together quite the way Titan mains expected.

While there’s a lot that could be said about theunfavorable position thatDestiny 2’s Titan class is in, some new information shared by the game’s developers has given Titan enthusiasts some hope for the future. During a recent episode of IGN’s Fireteam Chat show, Bungie Combat Area Lead Benjamin Wommack confirmed that the team has plans to continue adding to the Prismatic subclass going forward, stating that “it is going to be just as important as adding to the other subclasses.” Wommack also hinted that the development team at Bungie is looking at improving the Prismatic abilities available to Titans, commenting, “I’m not going to lie, we’re talking about Titans a lot right now internally, and looking at that which is not just Prismatic at all. Weighing all that together, and we’re definitely not done touching Prismatic at all.”

Destiny 2’s Prismatic Subclass is Only Getting Started

With the Prismatic subclass giving players the ability to mix and match a variety of abilities from across the range of already existing classes, fans have had the opportunity to put together some really creative builds. Still, plenty of fans have pointed out ways thatDestiny 2’s newest subclasscould be expanded on even further in the future. As for when the Prismatic and Titan adjustments will be made, Bungie did not provide any specific dates, so fans will have to remain patient.

Bungie’s intent to further develop the subclass could see many fans' wishes coming true with regard to Prismatic, and could even open the door to the addition of entirelynew abilities and supers toDestiny 2later down the line. While there’s a lot of room to rework the Titan class, it remains to be seen exactly how its problems might be solved going forward.
