Customization remains at the heart of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfaremultiplayer experience. From selecting an operator, their look, and then a calling card, players have a lot of choice. This also extends to weapons, where players not only decide how they look through skins and charms, but the attachment system also allows more personalization. However, attachments also have bonuses as well as negatives, though as one player discovered, certain ones may also have a few hidden bonuses as well.
The latest discovery comes fromCall of Duty: Modern WarfareYouTuber KRNG JGOD, who posted a short video on his Twitter showing a surprising and subtle change to a seemingly normal weapon attachment. Typically used on fast firing weapons like Submachine guns and Assault Rifles, the Merc Foregrip is an attachment that is typically used to help control accuracy and recoil on weapons. However, it also seems to give the player another slight advantage to movement speed.

In the video, KRNG JGOD uses an Uzi to test this finding, one with the merc foregrip and one without in a side by side test. After timing both runs down the exact same road in game, he found that his character’s movement speed was slightly faster with the merc foregrip attachment on the Uzi than without. Based on the recorded time, he calculated that the attachment gives the player roughly a 3% increase to run speed.
What’s odd about this discovery is that the buff to movement goes against theattachment’s actual displayed values. The Merc Foregrip attachment shows that it improves recoil control and hip-fire accuracy at the cost of aim down sights and aim walking movement. Interestingly enough, this attachment seems to have a hidden weapons stat for boosting general speed or possibly something is bugged with the item. Considering that Infinity Ward has yet to comment on the attachment, it isn’t known if this really is intentional or simply another bug.
One the other hand fans have been busy figuring out which attachments work best on the newly added sniper rifle. So far, players have seemingly settled on the special explosive and thermite rounds for the Rytec AMR, as they have proven to be brutally efficient in modes like Warzone. In fact, some players have started putting together videos and threads detailinghow powerful this gun can beagainst other players.
