Infinity Ward has released a brand new update forCall of Duty: Modern Warfareas well as the attached, free-to-play Battle RoyaleCall of Duty: Warzone. While the newest patch addressed plenty of player requests, such asbringing back Drop Zone, the effect it had onWarzone’s killcams are a game-changer.
Thanks to the way thatCall of Duty: Warzonedoles out field upgrades through random boxes, or simply just laying out on the field, players can earn some pretty impressive advantages based entirely on luck. Two specific upgrades, Dead Silence and Stopping Power, have been singled out for how much they can affect a match inWarzone, which is not the first timeDead Silence has been tweakedfor the sake of balance.

What the update has done to the perks made it so that an icon will now appear in the killcam whenever players are killed by a player who is currently using either Dead Silence or Stopping Power. While this might seem like a small change, for players dropping intoWarzonewith a squad of two or more players, this little bit of information can be especially useful to make sure that a teammate isn’t taken down by the same tactic. This can be especially useful when trying to keep a4-man Battle Royale squadalive if a sniper is packing the extra damage of Stopping Power or someone with a crossbow or knife is sneaking around with Dead Silence active.
Other updates included in this latest patch were mostly meant to address bugs and errors, such as PC players losing their field upgrades when putting on armor while at a buy station, or a glitch that altered the audio when picking upthe new SKS snipera player had dropped. However, none of these fixes are expected to have quite as much of an impact as the addition of the new icons that will begin to appear in players' killcams. Additionally, a number of the bigger updates went instead to the paid version ofModern Warfareas opposed to touching too much on the free-to-playWarzone.
While it isn’t certain whether or not Dead Silence or Stopping Power will be tweaked at all beyond informing players of how they died, this is another step towards bringing some much needed balance toWarzone. With the focus that Infinity Ward has been shown to be putting into the free-to-play format, many players still remain hopeful for larger support, such asupdating the map, or adding new modes. Considering the Battle Royale’s success so far, it looks like Activision has big plans forWarzone’s future.
