Summary

In a surprising turn of events, a leaked video appears to reveal the identities of characters set to appear in Marvel’s upcomingCaptain America: Brave New World. Not only that, but being a merchandise tie-in, the video also details the appearances of these characters in the film. It looks like the newest entry in the Captain America series will feature new heroes and villains alike for the MCU.

Captain America: Brave New Worldwill mark the first feature film appearance of Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as the titular hero and the fourth solo Captain America film overall. Wilson was given the shield byformer Captain America Steve Rogersat the end ofAvengers: Endgame. Still Falcon, Wilson spent the majority of the Disney+ seriesFalcon and the Winter Soldiergrappling with the responsibility and consequences of the role, before taking up the mantle at the very end of the show.

In anInstagram post from user @colecionaveis_fastfood, leaks are shown from an official Brazil McDonald’s promotional tie-in withCaptain America: Brave New World. The video offers excited fans a first look at mini-plushie versions of the new Falcon, Joaquin Torres (played by Danny Ramirez ofTop Gun: Maverickfame) as well as Red Hulk. It also shows an exclusive first look at the debut of Ruth Bat-Seraph, or Sabra, an Israeli super-agent, and Diamondback(Cascavel, which translates from Brazilian to Rattlesnake, the adapted translation), a member ofthe supervillain cabal, the Serpent Society.

While fans knew that Harrison Ford was replacing the dearly departed William Hurt as General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross, this is the first confirmation we have of a live-action adaptation of thecharacter’s transformation into the Red Hulk. Curiously, there is no appearance of The Leader, one of Marvel’s most notorious villains, in the promotional tie-in, despite being confirmed to show up inCaptain America: Brave New World. Fans can also see the new Falcon costume redesigned for the new character assuming the superhero identity. Fans of Sam Wilson’s Captain America suit retaining his wings can rest easy, as there is a plushie shown with wings extended.

Captain America: Brave New Worldis set to be directed by Julius Onah, a newcomer to the MCU, while Malcolm Spellman, head writer ofFalcon and the Winter Soldier, is writing and producing. The film has high expectations laid out for it, as it’s the first new entry in the solo Captain America series in nine years, afterCaptain America: Civil Warin 2016. Some fans may be skeptical of the film becoming overstuffed with other characters. Hopefully, the inclusion of these other heroes and villains won’t overshadow acompelling cinematic emotional journey for Sam Wilson’sfirst film foray with the shield.

Captain America: Brave New Worldis scheduled for theaters on June 27, 2025.
