Summary

Like any other shōnen action series,My Hero Academiahas a lot of supplemental material not written by its original author,Kohei Horikoshi, like movies or filler episodes for its anime adaptation. However, something that keeps this franchise apart from its contemporaries is that most of this side content was eventually added back into the story’s canon in one way or another.

However, there are some glaring exceptions, as some non-canon OVAs and video games have never been part of the main canon. This is a shame because they have featured a fair share of truly fascinating characters that would feel right at home in the mainMy Hero Academiamanga, and these are some of the most memorable examples.

Kashiko Sekigai takes a look at one of her charts.-1

1Kashiko Sekigai

A Potential Rival For Momo Yaoyorozu

TheTraining of the DeadOVA introduced audiencesto the students of Isamu Academy High School, who presented unique designs, personalities, and Quirks. However, one of the most memorable members of this particular crew was none other than their Class Representative,Kashiko Sekigai.

Kashiko is a responsible and highly intelligent leader, meaning that she could bea worthy rival for similar characters like Momo Yaoyorozu. Her hero costume also looks good, but the most interesting aspect about her is her Quirk, namedChart. With this, Kashiko can naturally create holographic charts that let her detect enemies from far away. This is a solid ability that would be useful for the canonical Pro Heroes of the story.

2Volcano Thieves

A Trio Of Villains With Great Designs & Quirks

In the arcade video gameClash! Heroes Battle, players are introduced toa trio of powerful villainsknown as theVolcano Thievesand, as expected, they look so good that it feels like they could’ve been minor villains of a canonical arc in theMy Hero Academiamanga. And this is mostly due to their excellent designs and abilities.

Their leader,Volcano, can produce hot lava from his body. But there’s alsoDusty Ash, a woman who can produce an ash-like substance from her body, andGust Boy,a Heteromorph who can rotate his hands to generate tornadoes. Their quirks all have great synergy with each other and by working together they could undoubtedly take on some of the strongest Pro Heroes of the series.

3Zookeeper

Horikoshi Got Inspiration From His Previous Works

Several characters in the canon ofMy Hero Academiawere inspired by characters from Kohei Horikoshi’s previous manga,Oumagadoki Zoo.Some examples include Gang Orca or Uwabami. That being said, it’s quite strange for him to design other characters based on this manga and relegate them to a non-canon arcade video game.

Clash! Heroes Battlealso marked the introduction ofZookeeper, a young woman who was brainwashed by the main antagonist of the game to follow his orders. She has an appealing design and an interesting Quirk that lets her “clean” her opponents with soap to weaken them. Zookeeper seems to be inspired by the protagonist ofOumagadoki Zoo,Hana Aoi,and she would feel right at home in the canonical world ofMy Hero Academia.

Romero Fujimi and the various Zombies he created with his quirk.

4Romero Fujimi

He Has One Of The Most Creative Quirks For A Hero

Romero Fujimiwas not only introduced inTraining of the Dead, but he’s the main focus of the entire OVA.His Quirk is called Zombie Virus, and it lets him generate a pink gas that will transform anyone who inhales it into a zombie for a certain amount of time. As a result, Romero can quickly create his own Zombie Army to wreak havoc (although he has to be careful, as he isn’t immune to his own power).

It’s important to keep in mind that Romero is studying to become a Pro Hero at Isamu Academy High School, despite how villainous his Quirk may seem. However, the topic of aspiring heroes with powers that are considered to be evil by society is something that has been addressed countless times in the series, with characters like Neito Monoma or Hitoshi Shinso being the main focus. So, if Romero Fujimi was canon, he could be used as part of some gripping storylines.

5Curator

An Intimidating Villain That Would Be A Big Threat To The Canonical Heroes

My Hero Academiafeatures a really solid cast of villains with fascinating personalitiesand strange, yet dangerous Quirks. But the character simply known asCuratoris a solid antagonist that was so well executed that he should definitely be part of the main canon, and it’s quite strange that his only appearance was in the gameClash! Heroes Battle.

Kohei Horikoshi always enjoys creating characters that are both serious and goofy, and this can be perfectly seen in Curator. On one hand, he has a slick design with a huge intimidation factor and a dangerous, calculating personality. But on the other hand, his Quirk gives him the ability to transform into a Sperm Whale. Although this may seem ridiculous at first, he is surprisingly strong thanks to this power. It should be no surprise that Curator is also based on a character fromOumagadoki Zoonamed Isana, but he would be a perfect fit for the world ofMy Hero Academia, and he could even become a great opponent for the Pro Hero Gang Orca.
