After his appearance onShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law, fans are ready to see the Devil of Hell’s kitchen back in action inDaredevil: Born Again. While not a lot is known about the upcoming series, Charlie Cox is “thrilled that [he’s] been invited to the party,” and refers to the 18-episode series as a “bold move.”
Netflix’sDaredevilseries was the most popular independent Marvel show, and the fan-favorite character had a lot of support after the series got canceled. After years of petitioning to bring him back, theMCU finally took Daredevil under its wing, and Cox is more than ready for the challenge of bringing the character back to life. However, the MCU’s version of Daredevil might not necessarily be identical to the one who fans had gotten used to seeing, with Marvel Studios potentially bringing back the hero’s dark sense of humor inDaredevil: Born Again.

In typical Marvel format, Cox was quite tight-lipped about the much-awaitedDaredevil series, but he did reveal that the 18 episodes will likely narrate a lot ofMatt Murdock’s lawyer story. In an interview withVariety, Cox spoke about how shooting is “going to be a real slog” physically. However, considering the number of episodes, he’s excited because “there’s a lot of story you can tell, just outside of the superhero element.”
The hero’s appearances in the MCU will be different from the Netflix series. “ObviouslyDaredevilat his core works better as a show that’s geared toward a more mature audience, but even life that is very serious has comedic moments in it,” said Cox.Daredevil’s appearance onShe-Hulk: Attorney at Lawhas already confirmed a more lighthearted tone, with some “tongue in cheek” humor. “It was a really great experiment, both for me and for the character, to see how we fit into that world,” revealed Cox. The aim was to ensure that Daredevil is part of the jokes, not the butt of it, because “he’s overly serious.” Whether this trend continues inDaredevil: Born Againremains to be seen, but for Cox, it was a “fun experiment.”
Another thing that’s different is Daredevil’s yellow and red suit, which is similar to the original suit that the hero wears in the comics. To Cox, the suit was a “great homage to some of the earlier Daredevil runs.” When he first saw a digital rendering of the suit, he “got goosebumps” just thinking about fan reactions. But, Daredevil’s journey isn’t complete without some of his trusty allies, which were a part of the Netflix series.
While rumors ofmore actors being cast forDaredevil: Born Againfor the series are swirling, it is unclear whether the other characters will make an appearance inDaredevil: Born Again, with the only other character confirmed so far being Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. “I just don’t know what the plan is going forward,” said Cox.
Daredevil: Born Againis currently in production and scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in 2024.
