Chivalry 2offers medieval warfare on a grand scale, pitting up to 64 players against each other on a large map. There are two distinct factions for players to join, those beingChivalry 2’sMasons and Agathans. So, shouldChivalry 2playersjoin the Mason or Agatha faction? The answer is a bit more simple than some fans might think.

TheChivalry 2faction players choose to join won’t have that much bearing on the player, ultimately. The only real difference will come down to attacking and defending on certain maps in certain game modes, but things function nearly identically outside of that. For most players, faction choice simply isn’t going to be that much of a factor in the game, as it has been balanced with that in mind.

Chivalry 2 Agatha Faction

Agatha does seem to be put on the defending end of most ofChivalry 2’s game modes, so players that are more comfortable defending walls than sieging them might want to lean more heavily into the Agatha side. Agatha also features more of a noble aesthetic, similar to what one would expect to find fromWorld of Warcraft’sAlliance faction. Those that like the blue and gold look may find themselves more invested in Agatha’s customization options.

Chivalry 2 Mason Faction

Meanwhile,Chivalry 2’sMason factionsits on the opposite end of the spectrum. Mason players will find themselves donning black armor with red accents and tabards. The faction is a bit more on the “vicious” side, dropping the noble ideals of the Agathans for something more in line with a harsh mercenary group. It tends to attack more frequently, but that will be the primary gameplay difference.

Deciding which faction to choose will be the first choice after completingChivalry 2’s tutorial, but players aren’t locked into that choice by any means. The game makes it easy to swap between factions within a match, with players simply having to navigate into the menu and select “change team.” So long as the teams remain balanced, players will be able to swap between the factions with no real hassle. However, the game may also auto-balance players to the opposite team.

Choosing aChivalry 2faction might seem like a major choice, but it doesn’t have many ramifications where gameplay is concerned. For the most part, players will be able to swap back and forth between the two without any real issues.
