TheCrash Bandicootseries recently saw a revival through theN. Sane TrilogyandCrash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled, and an announcement earlier this year forCrash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Timeshows that the wily orange creature is back to stay. Today, it was announced that those excited forCrash 4will have the chance to play it early, but only if they do something specific.

If players want access to theCrash 4demo that will be available on September 16, they will need to pre-order the game itself. Strangely, demos are usually used to win new potential players over as opposed to being given out as a pre-order bonus. Still, with the game bringing backfan-favorite locations like N. Sanity Beach, there will likely be some old schoolCrashfans excited to see some of the game early.

It is also worth noting that theCrash 4demo will only be available for digital owners, another surprising decision on the part of Activision and Toys for Bob. The demo is being looked at more as early access by the developers, but it is an interesting strategy, nonetheless. Perhaps the demo will become available to all players when the full version ofCrash 4releases on October 2 so that everyone can try outCrash’s brand new abilities.

The demo will include two of the levels that have been showcased heavily byCrash 4developer Toys for Bob: Snow Way Out and Dino Dash. The latter features the dinosaurs mentioned in the title, and the former allows players totake the role of Doctor Neo Cortex. While the villainous Cortex has only been playable a few times throughout the series, he will be controllable often in the game, along with Tawna and Crash adversary Dingo Dile.

Crash 4seems to have a lot of content, withthe stunning Inverted Modeproving to be a big new feature. Essentially a mirror mode, the option allows players to replay stages from a different angle with new visuals. With new characters, abilities, modes, and plenty of stages,Crashcompletionists should have a lot to do.

Crash 4seems a true modernCrashgame, and the game’s story is set to offer answers on Crash and Coco’s originthrough the new flashback levels. If players want to get their hands on the game early, all they need to do is pre-order a digital copy.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Timewill be available on October 2 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
