WhileCrash 4has plenty of new gameplay elements to offer, many things from the originalCrashgames can still be found. The colored gems are some of the hardest items to collect inCrash 4and aren’t always obvious on a first playthrough.

Of the four colored gems inCrash 4, the red gem is the first one that players have the chance to find. The red gem is in the N. Sanity Island Map, on the second level titled N. Sanity Peak. It can be found towards the middle of the level right before meeting thequantum mask, Lani-Loli. The room containing the red gem has nine disappearing blocks that alternate between being solid and phasing. Before entering this room, players should pay attention to a wall-drawing next to the door prior to the room with the blocks.
The wall-drawing shows a grid with nine squares and arrows, which show which sequence the blocks need to be jumped upon to unlock the red gem. Players will then need to advance to the next room and jump on the blocks in the same order as the drawing depicts. The sequence begins with the left-most block and continues around the edge in a counter-clockwise direction, ending on the middle block. No blocks should be jumped on twice and if a mistake is made players will need to return to the beginning of the sequence. Likein allCrash Bandicootgames, players will need to have good timing to ensure they don’t fall when the blocks disappear.
To assist players, when each block is jumped upon in the correct order there will be a chiming audio cue. If the audio cue does not sound that means a mistake has been made and the sequence will need to start over. After jumping on the blocks in the correct order the red gem will spawn, but players will still need to complete the rest of the level to retain it. Collecting the red gem will also unlock the ‘Ruby Red’ trophy achievementinCrash 4.
