A new trailer forCrysis Remasteredhas confirmed the release date for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions of the game. The remastering of the 2007 first-person shooter will release on September 18 for those platforms after having been already released on Switch last month. The game wasdelayed last month after fan backlashto leaked footage of gameplay, with Crytek citing the need to meet fan expectations as the reason behind the decision.
Though the graphics of the first game in theCrysistrilogy still hold up 13 years later, a lot has changed in that time for gaming. The short trailer, 48 seconds long, shows what a difference 13 years makes for the presentation of the game with new lighting, updated assets, ray-traced water reflections, and new 8K textures being displayed in all their glory.

The trailer confirmsa leak from a few days agovia the YouTube channel PlayStation Access (though the video has now been deleted). There is a clear improvement that can be seen when comparing the leaked gameplay which fans reacted negatively to and this new footage to which there is a more positive reaction. It appears that Crytek has been highly productive over the past month in fixing the issues highlighted by fan feedback and that this effort should be commended.
There is great anticipation surroundingCrysis Remasteredafter theofficialCrysisTwitter account tweeted out a teaserback in April this year, reactivating the long dormant account. While systems capable of running the original game at maximum settings were almost impossible to come by for a period of several years, eighth generation consoles and modern PCs are more than able to do so. With all the new bells and whistles that come with the process of remastering and with how technology has progressed in 13 years, it will be interesting to see ifCrysis Remasteredwill be more accommodating to systems in 2020 compared to its initial 2007 version.
Even to this day,Crysisis infamous for being incredibly demanding on gaming systems, with several concessions having to be made for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, including the removal of a graphically-taxing level. These days,Crysis Remasteredcan now run on the Nintendo Switch, even in handheld mode. It will be exciting to see the game running on modern PCs which have come a long way from 2007.
In the meantime,the entire trilogy is available on Xbox Onevia EA Access to tide fans over until the release ofCrysis Remasteredon September 18. But for now, we will have to wonder whether the question is no longer “But can it runCrysis?” for it looks to be that the new question is “But can it runCrysis Remastered?”
