Destiny 2’sfirst episodeEchoesbrings a new story set in Nessus, where Guardians will have to face a new threat that’s causing Vex to behave stranger than usual. Of course, this also brings a slew of activities, including the new Enigma Protocol.
Players who are tired of doingDestiny 2’sOverthrow activityor those want to experience everythingEchoeshas to offer should definitely give Enigma Protocol a try, though people who skipped through the early parts of the new questline might find themselves confused as to how to actually start it.
How To Start Enigma Protocol in Destiny 2
First, you have to finish the intro mission toDestiny 2’s Echoesepisode, which involves a short mission back to Failsafe’s ship on Nessus. Then, grabthe Encoded Log questfrom Failsafe once she becomes a vendor at the HELM.
Encoded Log will ask you to find a disturbance in theWell of Echoes inThe Tangle. It’s directly west of the Artifact’s Edge fast travel point. Use your Sparrow or Skimmer to reach the cylindrical structure with the triangular entrance, then just follow the path until you reach a teleporter.
After passing through the teleporter, go through the tunnels and you’ll soon reach a round chamber with a Hobgoblin, some Cyclopses, and a shielded Minotaur in the center. Get rid of the enemies, then break the Vex cube floating in the middle of the chamber. This will spawn more enemies and more cubes — find all the cubes on the second floor to remove the Minotaur’s shields, then kill it.
Defeating the Minotaur unlocks a new segment of the location: a chasm that seemingly leads to a dark abyss. Jump down, and you’ll eventually reach an overgrown area. The Enigma Protocol flag is right there.
What Is The Enigma Protocol In Destiny 2?
After unlocking Enigma Protocol from the Encoded Log quest, you’ll be able to start it from the HELM.
The Enigma Protocol is a cooperative activity that throws a fireteam of three Guardians into the VexNet in search of Golden Age data. It’s mostly composed of combat arenas and platforming sections, and a boss fight at the end. The twist here is that the activity hasa wipe timerthat can beextendedby destroying security nodes and Archival Timekeepers. Much like the previous seasonal activities likeThe Coil inDestiny 2 Season of the Wish,Enigma Protocol is repeatable, and it’s a good way to farm the reprisedSeason of Dawnweapons.
Enigma Protocol has a power cap of 2005. However, thanks to a change introduced inThe Final Shape, the fireteam’s Light level is now shared — everyone will scale according to whoever has the highest Light level in the team.
