As players explore the Moon inDestiny 2: Shadowkeepand have a new vendor in the form of returning character Eris Morn, they are going to interact with something called the Lectern of Enchantment. Developer Bungie says thatDestiny 2players will be able to craft gear at the Lectern of Enchantment. And it appears that one of the necessary materials for doing so is a new item called Phantasmal Fragments.
So where do you find Phantasmal Fragments? There are a couple known sources. First off, the bounties that players can pick up from the Lectern of Enchantment itself will reward Phantasmal Fragments. The bounties that have been off so far inthe latest ViDoc from Bungieare bounties for the new Nightmare Hunt mode that is coming in Shadowkeep. Tasks such as getting arc kills and performing finisher moves will complete these bounties.

The second place Phantasmal Fragments can come from was discovered by content creator Houndish, who recently played a preview build of the game. As he observed, as players explore the Moon, they will come across Nightmares. When these Nightmare enemies are killed, they can drop Phantasmal Fragments and Phantasmal Particles (the use of those is currently unknown).
It appears that Phantasmal Fragments are tied to Nightmares, a new type of enemy in Shadowkeep. It’s a logical assumption thatthe new Nightmare Hunt modewill likely be a generous source of Phantasmal Fragments as well, but that is to be determined until after the release of Shadowkeep. Keep in mind that higher difficulties of Nightmare Hunts (Heroic, Legendary, and Master) are launching in the weeks after Shadowkeep’s October 1st launch date, which could possibly give out bigger numbers of Phantasmal Fragments or perhaps a higher-tiered version of the material.
Houndish did find what looked to be a possible farming location for Nightmares ina new area of the Moon called Sorrow’s Harbor; however, that could be adjusted in the final release version of the game. But it’s good to keep in mind as it appears that Nightmare enemies could show up pretty frequently while patrolling the Moon.
