Patch 1.2.0 marked the start of the second season forDiablo 4,and it brought with it a ton of balance changes, quality-of-life- improvements, and content that has made the game less about lifeless grinding and more about fulfilling power fantasies.

The new seasonal Blood Harvest event is one such avenue for living that mass vampire slayer dream. It’s positively swarming with enemies, andDiablo4players will likely find themselves swimming in loot in no time if they participate. Still, the Blood Harvest can be a little confusing, so here’s a quick explanation of how it works and how to take advantage of it.

Explaining Blood Harvests in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Season 2 Blood Harvest Guide

The Blood Harvest is very similar to Helltides — it looms over a specific region of Sanctuary and cranks up the monster density to 11. On top of that, numerous events will always be present within the Blood Harvest region, making itan excellent venue for farming XPand gear during those early levels. Regions affected by a Blood Harvest are tinged green on the world map.

Unlike Helltides, Blood Harvests are available as early as Level 1. Also, while Blood Harvests are indeed time-limited, these events spawn back-to-back. As soon as one disappears, another one pops up somewhere else.

A Seeker Cache during a Blood Harvest in Diablo 4

During a Blood Harvest, players will be able to collectBlood LuresandSeeker Keys. Lures are for summoning Blood Seeker enemies that drop seasonal materials, while Seeker Keys are for unlocking Seeker Caches, the Blood Harvest equivalent of a Tortured Gift chest. Lures and Keys persist between Blood Harvests, so there’s no need to spend them all in one go.

Killing elites, saving villagers, destroying vampire structures, and completing events in a Blood Harvest zone rewards players withHunter’s Acclaim, points that determine the player character’s fame as a vampire hunter. Earn enough Acclaim to rank up at the Hunter’s Acclaim Board in Ked Bardu and receive rewards.

Blood Harvest zones are the best places to farm forPotent Blood, the new seasonal currency neededto unlock Vampiric Powers. However, the game doesn’t let players choose which powers they unlock. Instead, spending 25 Potent Blood in the seasonal tab of the inventory screen gives players three random powers to choose from.

Tree of Whispersobjectives can spawn inside Blood Harvest zones, further incentivizing players to level up in these areas. Take note that Tree of Whispers rewards have been buffed significantly in Patch 1.2.0, so expect to gain better loot and much more XP when turning in bounties to the tree.

Diablo 4is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
