Losing aDiablo 4Hardcore character due to a fault with the game is another matter entirely and is something that has plagued Hardcore level players in the game’s early days, including high profile streamers.

Streamer Quin69 was one of the more recent victims to losing theirDiablo 4Hardcore character for a ridiculous reason. While it’s not 100% clear exactly what happened, the streamer completed aDiablo 4dungeonand was fast-traveling to Kyoavashad when their character was killed in a loading screen. Quin69 was then informed that their 172-hour Hardcore character was dead. At the time of their death, the particularDiablo 4character was level 91 with 100% campaign completion with over 71 million total gold collected.

The official cause of death for Quin69’s Hardcore character was “slain by environment.” As one might imagine, this greatly upset Quin69, who raged on stream. It’s easy to see how it would be incredibly frustrating to lose so much progress like this. Others havelost theirDiablo 4Hardcore characters through disconnects, so one might want to hold off until some of these issues are ironed out before starting a Hardcore run of their own.

The issues withDiablo 4’s Hardcore mode are definitely disappointing for fans, but the launch of the game has been pretty smooth otherwise.Diablo 4has earned rave reviews from criticsand smashed Blizzard sales records. So it seems as long as one is playing a character without having to worry about permadeath being an issue, they should have a pretty good time with the game.

Blizzard will hopefully fix theseDiablo 4Hardcore mode problems in future updates. Future updates are also expected to add new content to the game in line withDiablo 4’s live service model, plus there are at least two sizable expansions in the works for the game as well. Launch hasn’t been perfect, butDiablo 4should hopefully have a bright future ahead of it. But for now, players may want to think twice before playing Hardcore mode.
