Diablo 4constantly rewards the player with various items, such as gold, weapons, and junk or valuables to use and sell. Storage space is one of the game’s persistent issues, however, and bags fill up quickly. This can become a vicious cycle as the player begins to sell everything in their possession just to free up inventory slots, and ends up with a hoard of gold that they have no intention of spending.
With various valuable pieces of equipment to be found while exploring Sanctuary, it’s important for a player not to sell everything that they pick up due to the importance of some items. With the current Loot Reborn event focused on improving old gear with several new choices for upgrades, knowing what to keep and what to throw away is even more important.

One of the ongoing issues, however, is inventory space, specifically the character’s personal bag space. Blizzard remembered to put a lot of cool stuff in this game, but neglected to provide a place to store or carry all of it. That’s why it’s even more important to know what to keep, what to store, and what to sell when exploring the world of Sanctuary.
10Abstruse Sigils
Salvage Legendary Jewelry At A Blacksmith
The Abstruse Sigils are a recent addition to the game and are part of theLoot Reborn event.Like most of the higher-level materials that have been added to the game, these are used to upgrade existing gear, although it’s recommended to stockpile them and wait until endgame content.
Legendary items are easier to find on higher World Tiers and moredifficult dungeons and bosses, so players will find more as their character progresses. Once the Jeweler is unlocked at level 20, they can upgrade or salvage rings and amulets, provided the player can provide the materials and a small fee.
9Greater Affixes
Only Found In Nightmare Dungeons And T4 Difficulty Level
Some items may have a stat with a sun next to them, also known as an Affix, that the player may wish to use. In the Loot Reborn Event, Greater Affixes have been introduced to give weapons and armor an even more powerful level. It’s a customization detail that allows the player to keep that desired affix while attempting to get something even stronger.
Take the piece of gear in question to anOccultist, which can be found in the main city of each region of Sanctuary. For a small fee of gold, the player can attempt to roll a better group of stats. Masterworking, a new crafting skill related to gear, can be used to make an Affix into a greater
8Gem-Laden Geodes
Randomly Found When Mining Ore
For players who have been practicing their mining, this won’t be such a rare find, but they still don’t appear very often. A Geode looks like a bag in the player’s inventory, but this is a big rock filled with valuable gems and possibly even crafting or Alchemy materials.
When the protagonist uncovers a geode in a zone for the first time, they’ll get a quest to return it to a local crafter. This is a tutorial of sorts to teach the player that to harvest the treasure inside. The Geode has to be taken to a certain vendor. One way to save space, an issue in the current game, is to store Geodes in the town stash and break them open when supplies are required.
7Gear With Transmog
Learned From Certain Pieces Of Gear Upon Salvage
Besides finding gear with incredible stats to make the player’s build more powerful, players should also pay attention to the tiny pickaxe symbol that may be spotted on some of the gear they have collected. Instead of throwing them at the nearest seller in the city, taking these items to a Blacksmith will reward the player with a new appearance for either their armor or weapons.
There areplenty of Transmog options availableinDiablo 4that can provide players with various impressive armor sets for all classes. Once a Transmog has been unlocked on one character, this will unlock the style for every class the player uses afterward. Now, any armor that is found in this style can be sold.
6Useful Elixirs
Drop From Chests And Enemies, Or Crafted At An Alchemist
This doesn’t refer to the health potionthat the player upgradeswith the Healer NPC, stored in the red bubble on the bottom left of the UI. These are the potions and salves that players can make at the Alchemist provided they have the required materials. Some are essential depending on the character’s class and unique build.
The Ironbarb Elivir is one example. It’s used for defense and has some AoE abilities, and for some classes, it’s a part of their overall talent build. The Third Eye elixir, which increases a character’s Dodge ability, is another potion that some classes should never sell.
5Legendary Equipment
Found In Dungeons On The Highest World Tier
Part of the enjoyment inDiablo 4is the collection of various bits of gear; while some of it can be sold for extra gold, one type of equipment a player should never be selling is anything of Legendary quality. This will easily catch the player’s eye during battles as a specific noise will play, as well as the glowing orange item on the floor, and don’t forget the star that will show on the mini-map.
During the start of the game, any piece of legendary gear will be valuable, and will usually have significantly better stats than the armor the player is likely to be wearing. In later levels, players will need specific Legendary Gear rolls for their build. The pieces that aren’t needed should be salvaged at the Blacksmith for rare materials like Abstruse Sigils.
4Herbs
Salvaged In The Wilderness, Included In Caches
The various plants and flowers that the main character picks up in the wilderness can be used in Alchemy or potion upgrades, aren’t worth very much, and are stored in a bottomless tab that’s kept separately from the main inventory. Put all those features together and it’s pointless to sell the Herbs.
Herbs that players find early in the game might not have a use until later when the player discovers another recipe, so keeping a few things in storage is handy when it’s time to mix something new. Certain herbs are also required for upgrading essential health potions, so it’s better to have the needed materials on hand when the time comes.
3Rare Or Lower Quality Gear
Various Locations Including Enemy Drops And Chests
Players should begin selling things less frequentlyas they gain levels. The armor that once was deemed easy to sell, such as those that can be found ranking Rare or Magic, now possess a greater purpose for a player trying to hone their build.
At this point in the game, these resources are far more essential than any bit of gold a player is likely to earn from selling it. Besides this, the player is likely to earn way more than enough just from defeating enemies and completing dungeons which will also be needed to find the gear they want. These resources can then be used to upgrade the player’s armor and weapons.
2Gems
Found In Geodes, Drops From Enemies, Found In Chests
Gems can truly make a build flawless due to the boosts they can give a player, so it’s hard to part with them unless the player knows exactly what they need for future builds. As long as they have them, players can then easily swap between them when experimenting with their build.
As players level up throughoutDiablo 4, they can then take these gems to a Jeweler who will upgrade multiple into an even better Gem. Therefore, it’s important to keep every single gem that is found, despite how inconvenient it is.
1Neathiron
Salvaged From the Pit Of Artificers At World Tier 4
A new crafting material introduced as part of the Loot Reborn event, Neathiron is a Legendary itemintended for endgame gear. It can only be obtained from thePit of Artificers,also known simply as The Pit, which is a Tier 4 dungeon that players have to unlock by running a level 46 or higher Nightmare dungeon first.
Neathiron is the highest level of Masterworking crafting material available, used for Tier 60 and up, but it’s not the only one available. Obducite is the first one players will find for Tier 1 to 29, and Ingolith covers Tiers 30 to 59. Considering how difficult all of these are to obtain, it’s best to stockpile them instead of sell them.
