Diablo Immortalremains one of the most controversial game releases of 2022. Blizzard’s heavy-handed monetization of its mobile ARPG led to a massive amount of attention when it first arrived. While that attention has dwindled significantly since, Blizzard has made no indication that it plans to changeDiablo Immortal’s monetization going forward. With that in mind, the announcement ofDiablo Immortal’s Season Two has confirmed the return of its battle pass and two premium upgrade options.

Like many free-to-play games and some premium titles,Diablo Immortalfeatures a monetized battle pass system. Players complete tasks in-game to progress through the battle pass and are rewarded with various materials and other in-game content. The main battle pass track is completely free, soDiablo Immortalplayersare somewhat rewarded regardless of whether they spend any money. However, there are two premium upgrades to the battle pass that lead to significantly better rewards.

The first tier of theDiablo Immortalbattle pass is referred to as the Empowered Battle Pass. The Empowered Battle Pass costs $4.99 each season and offers buyers greater rewards for each level they gain. Rewards for the Season Two Empowered Battle Pass are confirmed to include a Bloodsworn Weapon cosmetic at rank one, as well as the thorn-covered Bloodsworn Armor cosmetic at rank 40. Additional rewards like theScoria currency, gems, and emoji will be spread throughout the rest of the battle pass.

Like withDiablo ImmortalSeason One, Season Two will also offer a Collector’s Empowered Battle Pass, a $14.99 alternative that doesn’t open a new track of unlocks but instead includes immediate premium rewards. Purchasing theDiablo ImmortalSeason Two Collector’s Empowered Battle Pass will immediately unlock the first 10 levels of the battle pass, as well as the Bloodsworn Avatar Frame and Bloodsworn Portal cosmetic. For those wanting a head start on battle pass progression, they’ll have to pay for it.

Purchasing battle pass progression is not a rare thing, of course. As far as monetization goes, the structure ofDiablo Immortal’s battle passisn’t much different from a lot of games. The scant amount of tangible rewards is another matter entirely, though, especially when it costs $14.99 for an avatar frame and a portal cosmetic.Diablo Immortal’s most heavily criticized monetization lies elsewhere.

Season Two ofDiablo Immortalwill officially begin on July 7, allowing players to begin progressing through the new battle pass. The battle pass will last through August 4, after which players will no longer have access to progression. Expect the full battle pass to be revealed as Season Two begins.
