Not one to shy away from controversy, Dr Disrespect moved from humbly thanking his supporters to not so humbly claiming he had helped YouTube flourish as a streaming platform. According to the Doc, his move to YouTube helped open the floodgates that sawhigh profile names like TimTheTatman, Dr. Lupo, and Ludwig move to the company. Dr Disrespect claimed that these top streamers coming from Twitch moved in large part because of him. “Everyone is moving to YouTube because of the Two-Time. And to think that I’m doing it for free,” he said.
In addition to these comments, Dr Disrespect went further. He brought Fwiz, the head of gaming at YouTube, into the discussion. According to Dr Disrespect, he was vital to therise of YouTube gamingthan Fwiz and those working on his team.
These weren’t the only bold statements fired off by the streamer. Recently, Dr Disrespect said during a broadcast that he wascutting ties with the Esports Awards. This news came following the event’s decision to adhere to Twitch guidelines regarding banned streamers. As a result, the show censored the Doc’s face and audio from the nomination video for Streamer of the Year. This stood in contrast to the other nominees’ highlight segments that retained footage of them streaming.
Over the past few months, it appears as though the streaming landscape is ever-changing. Despite this unpredictability, one thing seems clear; Dr Disrespect will continue to be at the center of attention. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming months and if the Doc takes credit for even morestreamers potentially jumping ship from Twitch to YouTube.
