Now, a YouTuber dataminer called Sekiro Dubi has discovered an alternative opening forElden Ringby searching the game’s files. Normally, whenElden Ringstarts, players are in the Chapel of Anticipation, a place where they’ll likely die after being attacked by the Grafted Scion. Then, they wake up in the Stranded Graveyard and go to the Cave of Knowledge, the tutorial area. However, Sekiro Dubi discovered a completely different beginning in which players would be sent to a beach in the western section of Limgrave instead and see a scene with Melina and Torrent. In Sekiro Dubi’s video, it’s possible to see a reproduction of this scene, which is similar to the one featured early in the original version of the game.

While there is no official reason whyElden Ring’s beginning was changed, it’s not very difficult to understand why From Software chose to streamline the beginning. By starting on this beach, players would take more time until they reach the tutorial in the Cave of Knowledge and have more options to simply explore elsewhere.Elden Ringis an open game with a difficult start, so it would be easy for players to miss the tutorial area.

WithElden Ring’sShadow of the ErdtreeDLC coming out on June 21, gamers will have even more mysterious places to explore. The DLC will add more creatures, a huge area that has a similar size to Limgrave, and more items for gamers to play with. Likely, it’ll also supply players with more secret bosses and mysterious lore, too.
