The developer behindElden Ringmay be working on a new unannounced project. According to recent LinkedIn updates, a FromSoftware employee has been acting as the producer of a project for at least a year, and it’s not the upcomingArmored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, nor theElden RingDLC.
FromSoftware has been making games since the early 90s with theKing’s Fieldfranchise, but it only really achieved the peak of its fame withDark Soulsback in 2011. Ever since then, the company has been releasing several games in the so-called Soulslike genre, creating a whole new niche of difficult action-RPGs games. The company’s latest project,Elden Ring, keeps the Soulslike combat intact and adds it to anopen world.

Now FromSoftware producer Kenneth Chan has revealed that he is part of a new project. Originally spotted by PCGamesN, the news comes from an update in his LinkedIn profile, which now states that he is currently the producer of an “unannounced project” since January 2022. Chan previously worked as the lead designer and project manager ofElden Ring. He’s also been one of the directors of the upcomingArmored Core 6since 2017. His experience makes it likely that this is a projectsimilar toElden RingorDark Souls.
Last year, FromSoftware announced that it was hiring new employees for several projects, so this may be one of them. Unfortunately, it’s highly unlikely that it will beElden Ring 2, as the title just came out last year, and it’s one of thelargest open-world gamesout there. However,Bloodborne 2,Sekiro 2,Dark Souls 4, or evenKing’s Field 5are all possible choices. The new project may also be a whole new IP, which is also not something unexpected from FromSoftware when considering that most of its recent games are brand-new properties.
There’s no way to tell when this unnamed project will be out at the moment.Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubiconis expected at the end of 2023, so it’s unlikely that it will be revealed this year. So, a possible new game could be out between 2024 and 2025. If it’s another open world, however, it may take even more time, asElden Ringstarted its development back in 2017, being released only five years later, for example.
