AnElden Ringplayer watched with glee as their PvP invader was trapped perpetually running on a giant water wheel. FromSoftware’s open world hitElden Ringwas one of the most successful and highly praised games of 2022, garnering massive sales and near-universal acclaim, even winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards.

WhileElden Ringis an incredibly vast, rich single player experience, players looking to test their builds in a PvP challenge have the option to use a variety of finger items found throughout The Lands Between to invade other players. The invading player appears as a red spirit of sorts in the host’s world where the two players clash to the death. December 2022 saw theaddition of the Colosseumin West Limgrave, Caelid, and Leyndell, which serves as a dedicated battleground for PvP duels. Even with such a hub for combat, players are still enjoying the invasion feature which allows the encounters to take place almost anywhere in the open world.

Reddit user Esbidee posted a 30-second clip of an invasion in the depths of the dark, yet whimsicalRaya Lucaria Academyin the center of Liurnia. As the duel was unfolding near a ledge, the host player performed the Shield Crash Ash of War, charging forward at the invader and knocking them back off the ledge with their shield. The invader fell down onto a massive water wheel, landed on their back, stood back up right before the wheel rolled them off, and started running for their lives. As the invader was hilariously running in-place atop the wheel like a hamster, the host player, dressed as infamousElden Ringscoundrel Patches, squatted down and watched the invader with glee from the ledge.

The fate of the invader is unknown, as the clip ends with the invader still running on the wheel. Esbidee didn’t offer any insight on the matter below the post either, so it’s safe to assume the invader eventually got tired and fell off the wheel. If the invader made it far enough forward they may have been able to catch a lift on the far end of the wheel, but making a jump like that is a long shot. Players who’ve explored the depths of Raya Lucaria know that right below this giant wheel waits a vicious Abductor Virgin which, if caught dead in its gnarly grab attack, willteleport the player to the Volcano Manorin the fiery hellscape of Mt Gelmir, which has its own host of problems to face.

Even a year and a half after launch it looks likeElden Ringplayers are still finding ways to amuse themselves by finding themselves in wacky situations. With theShadow of the Erdtree DLC on the waythere will surely be more to discover and more fun to be had with other players in The Lands Between.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
