AnElden Ringplayer spots Ensha of the Royal Remains on the game’s cover art, sparking discussion about what the meaning of the characters lying on the box is.Elden Ringis a vast open-world full of difficult enemies to fight and varied regions to explore. Something else that FromSoftware’s latest title provides is a load of NPCs that the player can interact with and gain quests from. There are the obvious fan favorites inElden Ringsuch as Alexander the Warrior Jaror Blaidd the Half-Wolf, but there are also some lesser-known characters.

Ensha of the Royal Remains or Ensha is certainly anElden RingNPCplayers might not be aware of in their first playthrough. Standing outside the room where Sir Gideon Ofnir often can be found, Ensha doesn’t speak to the player, and instead he just stares at them until they move away. This doesn’t change, and Ensha doesn’t have any quest tied to him or dialogue options that pop up. However, later on inElden RingEnsha does appear in the Roundtable Hold as an invader that the player has to defeat.

OneElden Ringplayer, known as rishylefishe over on Reddit, recently discovered that Ensha does appear at another location, namely on the game’s cover art. He is located in the bottom left corner, and is lying down, possibly having been defeated or killed. This led to another user in the comments known as Ashen_Shroom elaborating on the discovery, stating that all the bodies onElden Ring’scover art represent an NPC.

Specifically, all the NPCs on the cover art represent a Tarnished that, like the player, is also seeking to be Elden Lord. The only character that hasn’t fallen in their search of this title is in the centre of the box art and is Festering Fingerprint Vyke. Vyke is the Tarnished inElden Ringwho came closest to becoming Elden Lord before the player, and ended up becoming a servant of the Flame of Frenzy. Like Ensha,Vyke can also be fought as an invader inElden Ring, but there is another occasion when he can be battled in the Mountaintops of the Giants.

The discovery of Ensha on the game’s cover art shows another neat detail put intoElden Ring’sloreby FromSoftware, as it displays how all the Tarnished are looking for the same goal, but only one can eventually reach the seat of Elden Lord. It also means that lesser-known characters like Ensha have a connection to the player beyond just popping in as an invader once they reach a certain point.

Elden Ringis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
