Spider-Man: No Way Homehas become one of the biggest films in recent years, and a large part of that is due to the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men. While the film did its best to keep the big reveal a surprise,Eternalsstar Lia McHugh has shared that she knew about the cameos for months.
Eternalsdebuted nearly two months beforeSpider-Man: No Way Home, but it appears the MCU family doesn’t always keep secrets from each other. While Garfield tried to keep hisSpider-Man: No Way Home role a secret, McHugh was able to learn the truth from one of the higher-ups at Marvel Studios.

McHugh, who portrays Sprite inEternals, the hero who can project life-like illusions, revealed to ScreenRant in a new interview that she was aware of who would be featured inSpider-Man: No Way Home, particularly referring to the inclusion of all three Spider-Men. McHugh said, “I went to theBlack Widowpremiere, I asked one of the big producers because I’m under NDA and everything. I was like, ‘Are all three of them in it?’ And he just like, ‘(whispers) yeah.'” While it seems strange to reveal such a big secret to anyone, even other Marvel actors, McHugh reassured everyone that she wouldn’t say anything. “But I didn’t tell anyone. I did not. I kept my lips sealed. But I was very excited for the movie. I was looking forward to it.”
AfterSpider-Man: Far From Home, many fans were left wonderingwhere Tom Holland’s web-slinger would go next, especially with the MCU heading into a brand new directions with phase four. With these characters returning and the film gearing up to have a multiverse storyline, it was no surprise that many people began dwelling on the potential idea of having Maguire and Garfield’s versions of Spidey return as well.

ForEternals, it wasdirector Chloé Zhaobringing her indie style filmmaking to present a film that is not only visually stunning but equally as challenging, giving audiences deeper themes involving familial relationships and the moral choices that arise when trying to protect something so close to someone.
ForNo Way Home, it was a celebration ofthree generations ofSpider-Manfilmsthat felt pure, as everyone involved with the project all strived to deliver a unique experience for the fans. Moving forward with this next phase, it will be interesting to see how the upcoming films will convey their stories and expand the MCU.
