To many,Far Cry 6is just another massive Ubisoft open-world game. A lot of gamers, however, are more than happy to dive into another serving of the familiar formula. It offers exactly what they’re looking for in a game like this: explosive action, a huge world to explore, and tonsof secrets and hidden references to other fan-favorite Ubisoft classics carefully dispersed around Yara island.

In the sixth iteration of theFar Cryfranchise, the open world is bigger than ever, so it should come as no surprise that the developers have packed more Easter eggs and secrets into the game than ever before. Many are references to previousFar Crytitles or Ubisoft-developed games, while others reach beyond the gaming bubble and reference pop culture at large. Lastly, some are outright cryptic, and will probably take months of community investigation to figure out.

Updated Jun 19, 2025 by Stephen LaGioia:Despite being just a few years old, the hype surrounding Far Cry 7 has already popped off, somewhat overshadowing FC6 — withfans speculating about its settingand features. This has been tempered by recent revealings that it will seemingly be set in the Alaskan wilderness.

Still, Ubisoft has kept gamers interested, with various DLC, crossover events, and other updates for FC6. Not that the game needs it, as it’s absolutely massive and chock-full of secrets many have yet to uncover. And with so many cryptic details, locales, and other easter eggs, it seemed fitting to revisit this list.

15A Castaway Easter Egg (Ball) On The Beach

Serving as one more subtle and random reference in the game, players can stumble upon what appears to be a reference from the survival-drama filmCastaway. Among many NPC events and happenings is a small group of escaped captives on the shoreline of thenortheastregion of Yara.

Over time they’ll be seen constructing a raft, which eventually becomes a lone builder finishing off the raft. The builder has a basketball at his side, a detail that would seem peculiar. Those who have watchedCastawaywill get what seems to be a Wilson volleyball reference.

14The Secret Early Ending

The early ending can be accessed after completing the main quests on the “intro” island of the game. Clara thanks Dani for their help with clearing the blockade and tells them they’re free to go, should they choose to abandon the Libertad cause.Secret endings have existed inFar CrysinceFar Cry 4and typically allowplayers to see what would happen to the game world should they choose not to take action and stand up to the main villain.

This is no different inFar Cry 6.However, by the time Dani isgiven the choice to board the boat and leave Yara behind, the players have already become emotionally attached to characters like Juan and Clara. Therefore, seeing the main character relaxing on a Miami beach and hearing news of their deaths on the radio without any emotional response feels all the more heartbreaking.

13Additional Secret Endings

Far Cry 6really pushes the boat out when it comes to secret endings, providing players with not one, but three of them at the time of writing. Granted, two of these do come courtesy of DLC, but for those who appreciate these kinds of little touches, it is a solid title. What’s more, the two additional secret endings offer some pretty big revelations when it comes to the series' lore.

Escaping Vaas' mind on the hardest difficultywill unlock a new ending in which it’s revealed that Vaas is still alive and actually beat Jason Brody in the end. Pagan Min’s secret ending, which also requires players to complete a Mind Level 5 run, keeps the villain’s current status ambiguous (whether or not he lives or dies inFar Cry 4is dependent on player choice), though does reveal thatthere’s a nuclear weapon hidden beneath his palace: seemingly the same one that is used at the end ofFar Cry 5.

12The “Leap Of Faith” Easter Egg

AlongsideFar Cry,Assassin’s Creedis arguably the most popular long-running Ubisoft franchise, so hiding a few references to the beloved series inFar Cry 6was something fans were counting on before the release. Surely enough, the firstACEaster egg can be found on the game’s starting island in theVencejo area.

There is a tower that looks eerily like a building straight out of anAssassin’s Creedtitle. Upon climbing to the top, players can find a board suggestive of the leaps of faith present in every singleACgame. On the ground below is a pile of hay — a sign that leads long-timeACplayers into a false sense of security and taking the leap. Unfortunately, jumping down onto the hay leads to Dani’s inevitable death, suggesting that, perhaps, not all Ubisoft games are the same.

11A Golden Reference

If players can’t get enough of their fill of other game references, they can venture to a locale to thenorth of Costa Del Marknown asPino Crest.Exploring the shelves in this bunker will eventually reveal a note on the left side.

In it, a soldier is seemingly commanded to move some valuable goods in the safety of the bunker depths. One of the items listed is a"Golden Apple"artifact, whichAssassin’s Creedfans will recognize as the Templar’s coveted Apple of Eden meant to control humanity.

10Back To The Bliss In “The Seeds Of Love”

Far Cry 6has no shortage of deep and involved quests, some of which have players venturing across Yara to complete. One such quest is the side quest called"The Seeds of Love,“which is initiated inPatriotas Peak camp in Sierra Perdida, El Este.Players will want to speak withLorenzofollowing the completion of the quest,“The First Love.“Lorenzo, it turns out, wishes to reestablish a relationship with a handful of neglected children;sevento be exact.

While it isn’t difficult to seek out some, one in particular proves rather cryptic, though should be amusing to those who have playedFar Cry 5.This piece gets into more detail regarding the quest, but in short, players will need to find a small plant on a table inOceguera Farm in Sierra Perdidaand touch it. This will trigger a hallucination, much like the Bliss inFC5, and Dani will come upon a vision of Riel moving about in a green mist.

This will lead to the location of the missing child. This trippy, mist-filled vision parallels Faith Seed, who partook in similar scenes in that game. And there are even strong hints that Riel knows a thing or two about the ways of Eden’s Gate, directlyconnecting these two games in the lore.

9Battle For Atlas

Assassin’s Creedisn’t the only othernotable Ubisoft seriesto be referenced inFar Cry 6. Far from it, in fact. There are plenty of other little secrets hidden throughout the game for those who know where to look for them. Many of these are pretty obvious, but there’s one that a lot of players will probably miss due to the relative obscurity and mediocre sales of the title that it references.

During thetricky treasure huntcalledCache Money, players will find themselves inside a bunker in Aguas Lindas. If they look around at the nearby shelves, they’ll find a small model of theZenith starshipfrom the ill-fatedStar Foxspinoff game,Starlink: Battle for Atlas, and an accompanying note. The ship was initially included with the game’s PS4 and Xbox One starter sets and was later made available for the Switch release too.

8The Haunted Cemetery

This secret sequence might as well be classified as a side quest in any other open-world title, but this move would reduce the charm of stumbling upon a heartbreaking ghost story. When visiting theSanto Amaro Cemetery at night, players will find a note informing them of a ghost roaming the cemetery grounds. Reading the note will trigger a jumpscare, in which a ghost will point Dani toward a grave with another note and a weeping ghost next to it.

The writing reveals that the crying ghost’s wife left him to live at Casa Dario. Going there will reveal a gruesome scene suggesting that some sort of ritual took place on the mansion’s grounds. Should they follow the trail of blood on the ground, the player will find the body of the ghost’s wife in a well, with a note explaining why she had to be killed.

7Cryptic Video Hidden In The QR Codes

Nearly every single crate found on Yara has a QR code slapped onto it, which many players brush off as a cosmetic detail meant to increase realism. Some abandon the idea of looking into them once it turns out that the codes can’t be scanned by Dani’s in-game smartphone.

However, using one’s own, very real mobile device to scan the in-game QR code will open up a browser window with a brief cartoon-like video, which seems to make no sense at first glance. There are many theories as to what this clip may mean, with the most probable ones suggesting that it’s a teaser for an upcoming DLC.

6Assassin’s Creed Artifact Reference

In the region ofAguas Lindas, there is a bunker Treasure Hunt side quest (the same one with theStarlinkEaster egg) that hides anotherAssassin’s Creedreference. The bunker was meant to store cultural items prohibited by the Castillo regime, and once inside, Dani can stumble upon a note left behind on one of the tables.

It turns out to be a list of items to be shipped off to auction. Amongst these items, there is mention of an “ancient spear, once broken, repaired multiple times”. This is a reference to theSpear of Leonidas, apowerful Piece of Edenthat first appeared inAC: Odyssey.
