Fortunately, nobody was hurt during the incident and the robber reportedly did not escape with any cash. After arriving on the scene, the police searched for the mask-wearing criminal, though he was unsurprisingly far too fast for the police to catch, so no arrest has been made as of yet. DeLand police are currently asking for any people in the area who may have seen the speedySonic the Hedgehogrobber in the local vicinity.
Surprisingly, this is not the first case of a bank robber using gaming-related merchandise to support their crimes. In Mexico, a man managed torob a bank using an NES Zapper. The sci-fi looking toy was wrapped in duct tape to make it look less like a harmless piece of plastic and more like a deadly weapon. This zapper-wielding robber was quickly tracked down and arrested though, so anyone fearful of being threatened with a toy from the 1990s can rest easy.
