Developed by Luminous Productions,Forspokenis an upcoming fantasy game that will have players using magic to defend themselves against corrupted monsters as they fight to find their way back home. The game is an anticipated one, as the developers behind it have plenty of experience in crafting memorable gaming experiences. Although the setting, Athia, has been presented as a dangerous place, it could wind up feeling like home.
If this is the case, it would be a good idea forForspokento feature a customizable home for players to tinker with. Not only would it help with making Athia feel cozier, but it would also give players a spot to recuperate before diving back into the action. Fortunately, players won’t have to wait for much longer to see what Luminous Productions has in store.

Frey Finds a New Home in Athia
From what has been shown ofForspoken,Frey Hollandis an outcast in New York. She is bullied, and her only friend is her cat named Homer. She is yanked out of her miserable life and magically warped to the fantasy world of Athia. Usually, Athia is a wonderful place, but it is currently being corrupted by a mysterious force known as the Break. The Tantas, who are powerful matriarchs, once ruled the land mercifully, but they have since turned cruel. The only way for Frey to get home is to defeat the Tantas who want her dead.
Forspokenseems to borrow from the isekai genre. Found primarily within Japanese media, the isekai genre involves a protagonist who is transported to another world where they must learn to survive. Although the new world may be strange, the protagonist often finds that they fit in more there. This could be the case with Frey, who is an outcast in New York but has friends and magic powers in Athia. If this isekai staple is present, the game could feature elements that highlight this theme, such as a customizable home.
Making Athia Feel Like Home
Trailers have revealed thatAthia is a vast land. Fortunately, Frey will be able to traverse it easily with her magical parkour. When she needs a break, she can visit some of the settlements that pepper the landscape. One of the places that have been shown off is Cipal, which is a sprawling locale filled with villagers. Here, players can find people who will share information, and give quests that will yield tremendous rewards. Frey will also be able to trade items with vendors and buy items to upgrade her armor.
The settlements should be about more than trade and quest activation, however. They should also be a place for Frey to call home. Introducing a safe house for players to customize and manage would help turn Athia from an unfamiliar and harsh land to one that Frey can love. There are plenty of other games that have done this, fromPokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire’s Secret Bases toDeath Stranding’s Private Rooms, and they have all illustrated how much more attached to setting players become when they can add personal touches to things.
Gamers have been waiting a long time forForspoken, and delays have made them wait even longer. However, early 2023 seems to be the next final release date. Plenty of questions still surrounding the upcoming game, with some gamers worried about howHomer the catwill survive. Hopefully, all these questions and more will be answered soon.
