Who Is Optimus Primal?
Transformersfans can rejoice around the appearance of Optimus Primal inFortnite. This famousTransformerscharacter may not have the staying power of the Autobots leader, Optimus Prime, or the vicious and conquering Decepticon leader, Megatron, but Optimus Primal still holds his own as theleader of the Maximals.
Optimus Primal can transform into a giant mechanical gorilla, a far cry from Optimus Prime’s truck form. Optimus Primal debuts inTransformers:Beast Wars, but theFortniteversion is based on his appearance in the newTransformersmovie,Rise of the Beasts, where Primal will take his wisdom anduse it to protect the innocent.

It’s hard to miss Optimus Primal in the Item Shop, as he’s the very first outfit that players can purchase when booting up theFortnitestore. However, this is bound to change in the future, so it’s best to pick him up before he disappears from theFortnitestore, and hopefully not for good, likesome famous skins.

Players won’t just get the Optimus Primal outfit with their 1,600 V-Bucks purchase, but they will also receive a built-in emote called “Go Primal”. This built-in emote can only be used with the Optimus Primal skin, and it boasts of a “Maximal war cry.”, which will see Optimus Primal release a mechanical shout and beat his chest like a gorilla.
Players will also obtain theMaximal EmblemBackbling, complete with the Maximals catchphrase. Much like Optimus Prime’s prideful leadership quote of “Roll out!”, Optimus Primal hypes up his team with “Maximals Maximize!” The Maximal Emblem floats on the back of the character and shows a bright green metallic crest of the Maximals.
Optimus Primal Bundle
If players want to earn a little more for their Optimus Primal, they can pick up the Optimus Primal Bundle for1,800 V-Bucks. The only addition to this bundle is the Sonic Swords pickaxe, but for an additional200 V-Bucks, it’s worth picking up, especially when one considers that the Sonic Swords pickaxe is800 V-Buckson their own, meaning players are saving a whopping600 V-Bucksby picking up the Optimus Primal Bundle.
The Sonic Swords pickaxe is an interesting one, as it has a reactive style inFortnite. Players can use the Sonic Swords to hit weak pointson theFortniteisland, causing the Sonic Swords to light up with an orange glow. “Their power is primal.” Hopefully, players get to see Optimus Primal unleash these twin blades inRise of the Beasts.
When Will Optimus Primal Leave the Item Shop?
Players probably won’t have to worry about missing out on Optimus Primal, as he most likely won’t leave the Item Shop for quite some time. Although there is no set time for his departure, he is a set that is here to stay for now, unlike the Daily items in the Item Shop. Optimus Primal could very well stay for the next few weeks, or even months, considering Optimus Prime is the Tier 100 skin for the season.
It’s always best to grab a desired skin inFortnitewhen it comes out, as the shops and their issues with licensing can be unpredictable, hence whysomeFortniteskins have not returnedeven after being out of the Item Shop for over a year. But, it’s safe to assume that Optimus Primal will be making a few appearances throughout the Item Shop rotation inFortnite’s Chapter 4, Season 3.
Fortniteis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
