Deadpool is coming toFortnite. It’s all but obvious, given the antihero’s appearance inFortnite’s Season 2 Chapter 2 trailer and the weekly challenges hidden in the game. Exactly how Deadpool will be brought into the game, either as an earnable or purchasable skin or some other way, isn’t clear. But what is clear is how Deadpool encroaches further and further intoFortniteweek to week. More evidence of that has just been found, as now Deadpool’s weapons may be coming soon to the battle royale.

Leaker spedicey1 claims to have found evidence of Deadpool’s Semi-AutoDual Pistolscoming toFortnitesoon. Judging from spedicey1’s post to Twitter, they found reference to the new weapons while datamining the most recentFortniteupdate. The reference in question is “Donut_DualPistol_SemiAuto_Athena_SR_Ore_T03”, with “Donut” apparently being Deadpool’s codename in Epic Games' code.

The “SR” in the filename implies that Deadpool’s pistols will be of golden rarity, meaning they’re unlikely to be a normal type ofFortniteweapon. They’ll be something special for players to find. That doesn’t mean they’ll be imbalanced, however. According to the weapon statistics, Deadpool’s pistols will do between 32.25 damage at long range and 43.0 damage at close range. The gun will have a clip size of 18 bullets and a reload time of 2.7 seconds.

What’s left unclear is exactly howDeadpool’s pistols will be brought into the game. They may be introduced like a normal weapon, available for a limited amount of time before eventually going into the vault. Or they could be limited to a very specific challenge or even a unique game mode.

Deadpool’s pistols weren’t the only new weapon leaked by spedicey1’s Twitter post, either. The second weapon doesn’t seem to be Deadpool related, however. “MistyBop_Athena_R_Ore_T03” is a weapon that does 50 damage straight up. Some fans think it might be a land mine or a proximity mine.

All things considered, as cool as Deadpool being a part ofFortnitemight be it still doesn’t make much sense.Deadpool 2was released in 2018, some time ago, and whileDeadpool 3is being worked on at Marvel Studiosthere’s been no official announcement or release window. Deadpool’s just coming toFortnitefor the heck of it. Epic is just going out of its way to bring in some of its favorite characters regardless of whether they’re part of a bigger marketing campaign. That’s worth appreciating, as aFortniteplayer.

Fortniteis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
