The release of Season 2 ofCall of Duty: Vanguardbrought with it a series of major improvements for the game’s controversial Zombies mode.Call of Duty: VanguardZombies was Initially lacking staple featuressuch as a main Easter egg quest and a traditional ground-based option, but Treyarch has worked to morph the mode into something more reminiscent of typicalCall of DutyZombies experiences. The studio recently added the classic Ray Gun weapon to the Der Anfang and Terra Midicta maps, and a follow-up tweet confirmed that it will receive a buff following complaints regarding its ineffectiveness. The first wonder weapon ever added to aCall of DutyZombies title, the Ray Gun could first be found hiding in the mystery box in theCall of Duty: Worldat War Zombies map Nacht Der Untoten. It has since been a mainstay for the franchise, appearing in almost every map since. However,Call of Duty: Vanguardlaunched without crucial inclusion such as Pack-a-Punch camos, score streaks, a suite of perks, and anything resembling a wonder weapon.RELATED:Call Of Duty: Vanguard Zombies: Healing Aura ExplainedA few new weapons and a single new objective were introduced during Season 1, but many Zombies fans agreed that it wasn’t enough to make a substantial difference for the fledglingCall of Dutymode. Fortunately,Treyarch unveiled a Zombies roadmap ahead of the release ofCall of Duty: Vanguard’s Season 2, and it made mention of two new wonder weapons coming to the title in the form of the classic Ray Gun and the Decimator Shield.

Unfortunately, after it finally debuted, players were upset to discover that theRay Gun was weakcompared to versions seen in previous installments. While the Ray Gun was a godsend in games likeCall of Duty: World at WarandCall of Duty: Black Ops, it acts as more of a detriment inCall of Duty: Vanguard. The unpacked version is nearly useless once the round counter hits double digits, and even the triple-packed version begins to fall off in the low twenties.

In response, Treyarch took to Twitter on February 14, the same day as the launch of Season 2, to announce that a future patch would address the effectiveness of the Ray Gun. The developer didn’t specify how the weapon will be fixed, though the underwhelming damage output seems like the most prominent thing to address. Ultimately, this seems like a negligible way to appease aCall of DutyZombies community displeased with Terra Maledicta’s lackluster Easter eggand bonus content, but every small improvement helps.

Call of Duty: Vanguardis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
