With theBorderlands 3season pass content coming to an end with theKrieg-focused final expansion, a second season of content has been rumored and requested for some time. Today, Randy Pitchford has added fuel to that fire, tweeting out a request for fan feedback on the next batch ofBorderlands 3content.
Though Pitchford does stress that this content is not guaranteed to come, the rabid fanbase ofBorderlands 3would certainly love to see more done with the game beyond 2020. While more events like Revenge of the Cartels and the batch ofevents to celebrateBorderlands 3’s first birthdaywould be welcome, some meatier expansions would be even better to help keep the game alive in the future. Thankfully, Pitchford seemed to tease that today.

Asking fans what they would like to see if another “premium add-on” was made in the future, the Gearbox CEO was met with countless replies. In these fan responses, Bunkers and Badasses 2 was mentioned, a popular concept given how little Tiny Tina was seen in the main story ofBorderlands 3. A sequel to theBorderlands 2expansion Assault on Dragon Keep seems like a great way to rectify the lack of Tina and please more fans. Regardless, Pitchford seems to be hinting at one pack as opposed to a full,second season pass forBorderlands 3.
Even more responses came in calling for DLC characters, even though Gearbox said last year that DLCcharacters are not inBorderlands 3’s post-launch plans. Perhaps with more content coming that outlook will change and players will see a new vault hunter to get their hands on. The Mechromancer and Psycho packs proved incredibly popular for the previousBorderlandsgame, greatly adding to its longevity.
One more thing to note about Pitchford’s post is the mention of a possible “(smaller) set of premium add-ons”. This comment immediately brings to mind the headhunter packs fromBorderlands 2, which were hour long quests added to the game after the season pass content had all been released. These packs focused mainly on holidays, however, with only the final headhunter pack breaking that formula.
It would be interesting to see how smaller pieces of content would do inBorderlands 3, as many players would likely prefer another large expansion over anything else. It is not out of the realm of possibility given last year’s release of Commander Lilith and the Fight for Sanctuary forBorderlands 2. Regardless of whether the next expansions are small or large, though, it seems likeBorderlands 3will be seeing paid content drops beyond this year. Chances ofnext-gen versions ofBorderlands 3are also incredibly high, ensuring it lives long past 2020.
