Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Introduced in the earlyGenshin Impactdays, Baizhu was one of the most anticipated characters in the game. Being the owner of the Bubu Pharmacy, it’s no surprise if people assume that he’ll be a healer inGenshin Impact. In version 3.5, this turns out to be true, making Baizhu the second Dendro healer, and has a similar role to his assistant, Qiqi.

However, unlike Yaoyao and Qiqi who are both dedicated healers, Baizhu has far more utility and supportive values. For example, his Burst provides a shield, and his Ascension passive greatly improves damage. Nevertheless, these features come with a quite complex mechanic, so players should avoid the following mistakes when playing Baizhu inGenshin Impact.
6Using Baizhu As A Main DPS Or Driver
UnlikeGenshin ImpactNahidawho works brilliantly as a driver, Baizhu can’t take this role at all. Baizhu’s Normal Attack has a terrible range, slow casting speed, and low scaling; comparable to Barbara’s Normal Attack multipliers.
To demonstrate, at level 1, Baizhu’s 1-hit to 4-hit DMG is37.4%, 36.4%, 45%, and 54%. Meanwhile, Barbara’s is37.8%, 35.5%, 41%, and 55.2%. For comparison, Nahida’s is40.3%, 37%, 45.9%, and 58.4%, while Wanderer’s is68.7%, 65%, 48% x 2.
5Not Knowing How His Burst Damage Works
Other than through his Elemental Skill, Baizhu also deals some damage through his Burst. This allows him to be a great Dendro enabler, especially for characters who demand constant application like Cyno.

Upon casting his ultimate, Baizhu generates a shield every 2.5s. Whenthe shield expires or is broken, Spiritveins will be unleashed, dealing Dendro DMG to a nearby enemy. Baizhu’s Burst lasts for 14s, so players can get multiple Dendro applications in this timeframe. The cooldown is also low at 20s, so players will only be shield-less for 6s.
4Not Knowing How His Healing Works
Baizhu has two methods of healing (three if people consider it outside battle); one from his Elemental Skill, and another from Burst. With Baizhu’s Elemental Skill, he will throw a Gossamer Sprite that deals damage three times (it’ll hit one enemy three times if there’s no one else around). When the Sprite returns, all characterswill be healed. If there are no opponents nearby, the Sprite will come back immediately, healing everyone all the same. This ability has a low 10s cooldown and restores a large sum of HP if Baizhu isfully built as a healer inGenshin Impact.
Meanwhile, Baizhu’s Burstonly heals the active character; the recovery will trigger when his Seamless Shield breaks or expire, which occurs at least once every 2.5s.
3Ignoring Baizhu’s Ascension Passive
Other than healing, when Baizhu’s shield breaks, the active character will gain theYear of Verdant Favor. For every 1000 max HP Baizhu has, Burning, Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon DMG of the character increases by 2%. Meanwhile, Aggravate and Spread DMG increases by 0.8%. These effects last for 6s and are capped at 100% and 40%, respectively, so Baizhu should aim for a maximum of 50k HP.
It’ll be a huge waste if players don’ttake benefit from this brilliant passive, considering it can be triggered rather effortlessly. Just note that the effect only applies to the unit that’s healed by Baizhu’s shield, so players should keep their desired DPS as the active character.
2Not Having Enough Energy Recharge
Baizhu’s Skill heals a large sum of health, but players should not be building him solely for that as even a 4-star character can work great as a dedicated healer. Instead, when playing Baizhu, people should focus on maximizing the utilities provided by his Shield, which is generated through his Elemental Burst.
Unfortunately, despite his low Skill cooldown, Baizhu can’t maintain his own Burst without sufficient Energy Recharge. Therefore, it’s no surprise that hisbestGenshin ImpactCatalysthelps with his Energy regeneration. To keep it simple (assuming he’s using an R1 Prototype Amber), if Baizhu isthe only Dendroon the team, he’ll need around 220% Energy Recharge. If he isn’t the one funneling the Elemental Particles, he may need around 250% Energy Recharge.

Meanwhile, if there’s another Dendro on the team, his demand will be lowered. If he’s the one funneling Energy, players can escape with around 150% Energy Recharge, but if he’s staying off-field, then he’ll need a higher amount of the stat. Of course, if his requirement gets too demanding, people can always resort to pulling for Baizhu’s signature weapon or using Raiden Shogun to completely remove the Energy problem.Raiden Shogun’s DMG will also be boostedwith Aggravate and Baizhu’s Ascension Passive, so it’s a win-win. Additionally, players can always refine their Prototype Amber to enhance its Energy restoration passive.
1Baizhu’s Damage Scales With ATK
Being a Dendro character, players may think of playing Baizhu as a Spread damage dealer. Unfortunately, this would be a poor choice. Baizhu’s healing, shield, and Ascension Passive all scales with HP, meanwhile, his damage all scales with ATK.
It’s not worth giving up on Baizhu’s utility for the sake of more damage, especially since Baizhu only deals damage every once in a while. He also has no use for Elemental Mastery, which means players further can’t build him as aSpread DPS inGenshin Impact.
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
