Yesterday,Gotham Knightsannounced which of its playable protagonists would receive the next character spotlight in a brief teaser. Leaving nothing to ambiguity,Gotham Knightsall but explicitly stated that Robin would be featured.
Gotham Knights’ protagonists may already be familiar to a lot of fans, but it is important to remember that the game operates within its own continuity. Bruce Wayne has seemingly died, leaving the role of Gotham City’s vigilant protector up to Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin, and their motivations will all be laid bare as they work together. Now, the latest character spotlight offers a glimpse into Time Drake’s own motivations, and shares gameplay and cosmetics that have not been seen before.

LikeNightwing’s ownGotham Knightscharacter spotlightfrom earlier this month, Robin is highlighted today in his own edit of cinematic gameplay. Capturing in-engine footage, Robin can be seen using Justice League satellite teleportation technology to traverse the environment and creatively engage with enemies, firing stun projectiles into the air, and even spinning his collapsible quarterstaff to deflect enemy gunfire.
Tim has a lot to live up to inGotham Knights, being the heir apparent to a deceased Batman and working alongside former Robins in Dick Grayson’s Nightwing and Jason Todd’s Red Hood. This is emphasized in the spotlight’s narration from Robin. It makes sense narrative-wise thatBatman’s death would greatly affect Robin, but he seems confidently prepared to live up to Batman’s expectations.
Unique cosmetics are also highlighted aside fromGotham Knights’ default New Guard design for Robin, such as a suit that features a stealth or shinobi style aesthetic and a suit that features a regal 19th century aesthetic. Through these shots, new looks at Faction gangs are offered, though it is difficult to discern whether they belong to a particular supervillain regime or if they are independently affiliated. Besides being in a walkthrough presentation where he accompanied Batgirl, this character spotlight is the most gameplay that fans will have seen from the Boy Wonder.
It appears as if stealth is a particular skill of his, and thus could make intermittent teleportation from perch-to-perch incredibly effective, as well as the use of creative gadgets. One such gadget revealed in the character spotlight produces a holographic decoy in the environment, which also appears todisplay a new Robin cosmetic, and may explode as an enemy strikes it.
Batgirl and Red Hood are the last two characters to receive their own spotlights, and it may not be long before those are shared. These spotlights are warmly welcomed due to the extended gameplay they offer for each character, and encourage fans to get to know them for what their motivations are inGotham Knights. Further, players may be able to preemptively decide who they would like to play as, and eagerly await their favorite characterwhenGotham Knightsreleases in October.
Gotham Knightsis scheduled to release on October 25 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
