After gettingrevealed earlier this year during the DC FanDomevirtual event,Gotham Knightshas gone fairly silent outside of the odd interview or small detail. This radio silence has essentially pushed the game’s fanbase to try and filling the gaps through potential rumors and unverified leaks. With the Holiday season in full swing, studios are typically closed around this time meaning the the news cycle slows way down.

However, it seems thatGotham Knightsmay have had one final surprise for its fans on Christmas Day. The official Twitter account Tweeted out an image wishing their fans a Happy Holidays with a caption that “Christmas in Gotham is something else.” In addition to the game’s logo, the image featured a heavy bag wrapped up like a present, a new laptop, gymnastic rings, a weightlifting bench, and other various gifts.

The first thing to note here is that the days do not match up with the upcoming 2021 year. July 16 is actually a Friday while the 21 is a Wednesday. Instead, fans have combined the numbers together, which in turn creates 7/16/21. What makes this date a little more compelling is that this lines up with a Friday, a day that many companies use to globally release games. Some are convinced that this image was WB Montreal’s way of subtlety revealing the game’s launch date, while others thing that it could be something else entirely, such as another trailer release or even a major announcement date.

The major element working against this theory is that companies typically avoid releasing major games in the month of July, which is typically one of the slower months of the year. Therefore, it seems unlikely thatWB Montreal would attempt to break this trendby releasing a major AAA product in the middle of the summer months. Regardless, fans should take this rumor with a grain of salt for now.

As fans wait for new reveals and details from the studio in 2021, solo players received a bit of good news earlier this year. In an interview, senior producer Fleur Marty confirmed that players who would rather strike it out on their own can do so offline, a feature that is becoming more and more rare these days. Better yet, byplaying offline and solo, players won’t be missing out on any content either.

Gotham Knightswill be coming in 2021, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
