Grand Theft Auto Onlineis a genuinely massive experience, as it’s full of interesting features that allow players to play out their crime boss fantasies. Yet as robust asGrand Theft Auto Onlineis, and as consistent as the updates that add more content of substance are, one aspect of the game has drawn some surprising criticism lately.Grand Theft Auto Onlineplayers have been questioning why Rockstar has been withholding housing options.
Two key posts on Reddit were recently received a staggering amount of upvotes fromGrand Theft Auto Onlineplayers regarding housing options in the online multiplayer game. The first post received 14.4 thousand upvotes and dealt with a certain type of housing players couldn’t buy. The second post received over 2.5 thousand upvotes and focused on specific areas ofLos SantosinGrand Theft Auto Onlinewhere players aren’t able to purchase housing. Both posts are filled with comments agreeing that there’s really no reason Rockstar hasn’t added such content yet.

The post that received 14.4 thousand upvotes specifically called out Rockstar for not allowing players tobuy mansions inGrand Theft Auto Online. The top comment says they would love to have a mansion with a helicopter pad, a boat dock, as well as a six-car garage. On the interior, they could have places to show off their weapons, as well as a heist room. Others note that custom interiors is probably too much to ask, but the lack of high-end properties with extra features seems like a major oversight on Rockstar’s part.
The second post, with only 2.5 thousand upvotes, points to several key areas of theGrand Theft Auto Onlinemapwhere no houses are available. The four locations they point to are Mirror Park with its lake/pond, Del Perro beach, Chumash beach, and Vespucci Canals. All four areas are representative of the wealthier areas ofGrand Theft Auto Online’s map, so it ties into the lack of mansions available to purchase, too.
There’s obviously plenty of expensive, high-end content forGrand Theft Auto Onlineplayers to work towards acquiring in-game already. Whether it’s the $10 million Buckingham Luxor Deluxe, the$8 million Aquarius Yacht, or the $5.7 million Imponte Ruiner, players can work towards purchasing a lot of fun content. That could also explain why mansions aren’t available. Rockstar may want players to spend their cash on content that’s playable and can be fully experienced in multiplayer.
While Rockstar hasn’t released or announced any mansions, whether they’re on the beach or an inland body of water, players shouldn’t give up hope.Grand Theft Auto Onlinecontinues to receive major updates, so hopefully it is just a matter of time before mansions are added to the game.
Grand Theft Auto Onlineis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launching November 11.
