Hades 2 Could Have Great Titan Boss Fights

Hades 2’s announcement trailer didn’t give away too much, but it did reveal the general premise of the coming sequel.Hades 2will put players in the boots ofMelinoe, the daughter of Hadesand half-sister of Zagreus. In the trailer, Melinoe can be seen training with Hecate, the goddess of witchcraft who plays a pivotal role in the mythology of the underworld. The game’s inciting incident seems to be Chronos' escape from his imprisonment in the underworld, forcing Melinoe to step up and stop him before he wages his war on Olympus.

InGreek mythology, Chronos is a Titan - some of the first beings in the universe. These Titans gave birth to the Greek gods, who would eventually band together to overthrow their parents, creating a new world in the process. Chronos is one of the most important Titans, being the embodiment of time and the father of Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, Hestia, and Hades. After being imprisoned in Tartarus for literal ages, it seems as though Chronos is on a mission of revenge, and it’s likely the rest of his family would be keen to join.

Hades 2seems primed to feature Titans as its main antagonists, and as such, it’s a safe bet that players will get to face off against some of them through boss battles. The firstHadesfeatured some incredibly memorable boss fights, with each character using a unique moveset that hearkened back to their mythology in subtle, rewarding ways. TheBone Hydra boss battleis a perfect example of this, sprouting more heads as the fight goes on despite the unique contributions of its battlefield. There’s a lot of potential inHades 2using the Titans as bosses, and there are a few that should definitely make the cut.

Two Titans have already been mentioned inHades, those being Hyperion and Theia. Brother and sister, Hyperion is the Titan embodiment of the sun, while Theia is the embodiment of sight and vision. A boss fight featuring both Hyperion and Theia could offer some unique mechanics, with lighting being used to blind the player and keep them on their toes, perhaps having to use the game’s audio to detect oncoming attacks. Mnemosyne is another Titan who could make for a great boss fight inHades 2, with her powers revolving around memory in a way that could turn that encounter into more of a puzzle game.
